Anand College of Education for Women at Jethuwal in Amritsar district of Punjab is a relatively young teacher education institution with an enormous potential for growth as an entity in the field of pedagogy. It is a unique institution as it caters to the needs of both urban and rural girl students who hail primarily from Punjab. The institution was founded as recently as on September 5, 2005 by Anand Model Educational and Charitable Society which has been registered under the societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and has its administrative office at 12. Opposite Thana Sadar, Near Railway Loco Shed, Amritsar. Anand College of Education is a self financed educational institution and it is run by its management without any aid from the government. The chairman Dr. M.M. Anand had started his career as a teacher, and all through he has been conscious of the role of the college in producing committed teachers. He feels strongly that this aim of the college can be attained only by upholding the age-old traditions of the Indian Society and practicing the ideals of our distinguished ancestors.

Anand College of Education for Women, Jethuwal is situated in the midst of a beautiful natural landscape just 3 kms from the town of Verka located on the outskirts of Amritsar city, on the Amritsar-Pathankot highway. The institution is only 7 kms from Amritsar. The institution is housed in its own spacious building at Jethuwal. It has sprawling grassy lawns, spacious playgrounds, a well-equipped Library, a Psychology lab an Educational Technology Lab, a Computer Lab, a Science Lab, a Mathematics Lab, a Language Lab, a Art & Craft Room, a Seminar Room, a Music Room, a Sports Room, a well-furnished Common Room, a Staff Room and spacious Class Rooms.

The college organizes a number of activities and festivities for the development of students and staff. The institution provides costumes and equipment to its participants during cultural festivals. For the last three consecutive years, student teams from the college have been participating in the youth festivals organized by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

The institution has well developed network with the practice teaching schools. All important issues concerning quality teacher education like, adequacy of curriculum, transaction of curriculum, specific problems of students and teachers, integration of ICT in teaching learning, inculcation of values like citizenship etc. are discussed by organizing periodical meetings with the heads and subject teachers of these schools. They are also invited to deliver model lessons and extension lectures and are also invited as external examiners in skill-in teaching examination. In addition to the co-curricular activities the institution organises national level, state level, seminars, and workshops on current issues. Inter college and inter house activities are a regular feature.

We have completed three academic years of successfully running B.Ed. programme. Our college has shown consistently good academic results and our students have bagged high positions in co-curricular activities including inter-college competitions and youth festivals. One of the strongest factors that distinguishes us from others is the best state of the art infrastructure coupled with experienced qualified and dedicated faculty. 8 out of 10 faculty members are UGC NET qualified. 2 faculty members are PhD. in education while 2 others are shortly completing their PhD.
