Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar is a premier institute of North India, providing Value-based, Employment-Oriented quality education to the women-folk. This 80 years old women institution was established in 1927 at Lahore by the pious efforts of Mahatma Hans Raj, an enlightened veteran leader of DAV Movement, and it shifted to Jalandhar after the partition.In 1959, its new campus at Jalandhar inaugurated by a great philosopher and teacher, the then Vice-President of India Dr. Sarvpalli Radhakrishnan and restarted with a meager strength of 100 students in Jalandhar which at present has on its rolls almost 4500 students. This is one of the oldest Institutes initiated by DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, [HRMMV] Jalandhar

• The student should have cleared +2 examination (any stream) from P.S.E.B or any other equivalent examination recognized by G NDU, Amritsar. The college offers almost 300 combinations of subjects in humanities group. This is the maximum number of combinations permitted by any college affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

• The selection of the candidates will be based on either merit or interview will be scheduled by the college authorities.

The Cutoffs for the various courses are not preset, it is evaluated on the following basis:

• The number of students who have applied at the college
• The number of students who passed the entrance exam.
• The number of vacancies.
• The difficulty of the entrance test.

Hostel Details at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, [HRMMV] Jalandhar

• The College hostel is housed in two double-storeyed buildings, within the college campus.
• The hostel comprises 245 rooms, a prayer hall, a dining hall, a reading room, a night canteen and a computer enclave.
• All efforts are made to make it, “a home away from home.”
• The resident students form a special committee that plays a vital role in maintaining discipline and order within the hostel.
• Celebrations of various functions & activities like Havans, One-day trips are organized from time to time, Movie shows are arranged in the H.M.V. theatre, Religious activities such as Satsang etc. are arranged to promote mental peace and spiritual heritage.
• Independence day, Janam Ashtami, Various workshops of Art of Living are organized from time to time.
• LOHRI, DIWALI, SILVER NIGHT & GOLDEN NIGHT are celebrated with great enthusiasm to welcome the new corners and to bid farewell to outgoing students respectively. New hostels, equipped with AC rooms as well as a number of rooms with attached washrooms have also been constructed and are available to the students. S.T.D. and incomings are available to the students.
• Stationery shop-cum-Tuck Shop is available within the campus. A new A.C. Block has been built in the old hostel. A new mess has been built in the new hostel.
