The University was established in 2002 and is located at the foothills of the Himalayas. It has an excellent infrastructure and is equipped with a cafeteria,shopping mall, medical center and libraries. The University gives paramount importance to sports and has provisions for various sports activities within campus.Besides its main campus, at Rajouri the university has established branch offices at Srinagar and Jammu for liaising with students of these divisions and facilitating their admission, interviews, entrance tests etc.
The University offers courses in the fields of Science, Commerce, Humanities and Technology. 

Eligibility Criteria at Ghulam Shah Badhshah University, Rajauri

• Candidates must secure 50% in their Higher Secondary Examination in order to apply at the University
• For postgraduate courses, the candidate must secure a minimum of 50% in their Higher Secondary Examination as well as the undergraduate course they have pursued prior to the course they wish to pursue presently
• SC/ST students must secure 45% in their Higher Secondary Examination in order to apply at the University
