Central University of Kerala came into existence in 2009 under the act of Central Universities 2009. In October 2009, the academic portal was started with 17 students enrolled in 2 PG programs, and it was in a rented building Nayanmarmoola in Kasaragod town. CUK Kerala offers UG, PG, PG-Diploma and Doctorate courses in the field of humanities, applied sciences, engineering, law and social work. The admissions are made based on the CUET/CUCET score.
Central University of Kerela has grown into an institution offering 27 postgraduates and 22 research programs with 2500 students. CUK organises distinguished lecture series within the campus to facilitate learning. CUK Kerala is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure to impart higher education to students both nationally and internationally.
