As per curriculum of the polytechnic diploma program, applicants can apply for admission through diploma to degree programs in the university. Students who have passed the second year i.e. semester 3, depending on free seats in the college, diploma, can be admitted to the graduate-level program. The intake capacity of transfer students from diploma to graduation is only 10% of the regular graduate intake seats. The College has successfully passed 1251 graduates from 1989-2018 and since then seeing good results. The undergraduate program offered by the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Junagadh is B.Tech Agri. Engg. for which an intake capacity of 90 students is available. The undergraduate program has an intake of 90 students which is further classified into different seat allocation for admission. 72 seats are open for all and 05 seats are available for other board students and 13 seats are available for ICAR and government of Indian nominee students. There is also additional seat provision for Kashmiri Migrants and Parsi Community provided they are domiciled in Gujarat State. A reservation of 15 % is given for ICAR candidates who are nominated by ICAR respectively. 5% of seats are also available for physically challenged students.
When it comes to the reservation, among the allotted seats for the undergraduate program,49% of seats have been reserved for various Backward Classes. After the successful submission of the application form, candidates undergo various counseling rounds wherein seats are allotted to students. Counseling rounds usually take place after the announcement of college allocation for students based on their GUJCET and academic marks, If the student does not confirm the admission to the college the seat is then vacant and is available for allotting other candidates in the further rounds of the admission process. It was not before 1994 from where the college offered an M. Tech program in different disciplines. The disciplines included Farm Machinery & Power Engineering, Soil & Water Engineering, Processing, and Food Engineering, and Renewable Energy Engineering respectively with an intake of 30 students each year. To meet the professional requirement of Master’s Degree infrastructure the college provides a central computer lab facility where all practical exposure is given to students, where flagship projects are conducted by JAU. Exposure to these helps Master’s Students to gain a handful of skills in agriculture-based technology. For PG selection the applying candidate must have passed a Bachelor’s degree with an OGPA of not less than 6.00 out of 10.00 basis. Candidates who belong to SC/ST/SEBC class must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the required field with an OGPA not less than 5.50 out of 10.00 basis. Students are called for a counseling round and a personal interview round, performance based on these rounds determine the selection of a candidate.
