All applicants are required to submit the centralized application form from www.gsauca.in along with required documents. As per curriculum of the polytechnic diploma program, applicants can apply for admission through diploma to degree programs in the university. Students who have passed the second year i.e. semester 3, depending on free seats in the college, diploma, can be admitted to the graduate-level program. Having an objective to give students the finest education and developing  & implementing technology in agriculture, the CAET offers undergraduate programs in its Co-Ed college. The College has successfully passed 1251 graduates from 1989-2018 and since then seeing good results. The application for higher education in Agriculture is looked after by the Deans and Registrar of the university. Admission is adopted via centralized online admission procedure depending on GUJCET scores and 10+2 Group A or Group B marks with English as a compulsory subject.

Admission for Students of CBSE, who passed from schools in Gujarat State, are admitted as per the pro-rata basis. The admission will only happen once you pay 25% of the fees for reserving the seat.

Entrance Exam

The UG program for the CAET is B. Tech Agricultural Engineering and B. Tech agricultural extension engineering. CAET also provides diploma courses for the same. To apply for this one must obtain the minimum required marks in the Entrance Exam. The Entrance exam for the UG program is GUJCET/ JEE GSEB. Although GUJCET scores will be prioritized and considered first. The exam was held on 24-Aug-2020 and the results were declared on 09-Sept-2020. Courses and Eligibility Criteria

The undergraduate program offered by the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Junagadh is B.Tech Agri. Engg. for which an intake capacity of 90 students is available. Even though the college only offers one course for an Undergraduate program, the infrastructure for the required course is advanced and an option of diploma in the same is also provided by the college. The college also has an extensive education department where interested students can focus on the specialized practical application of the taught subjects also active participation in research activities is also provided for future studies.

There are two sets of Eligibility criteria for Undergraduate programs available. And various categories of students are eligible for undergraduate programs depending on the rules mentioned in the JAU.

  • Eligibility for B.Tech (Agri. Engg.) Group A- For students who have taken subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 12th standard must at least obtain 35% marks for SC/ST students, 40% marks for students with SCEB class and others are considered as per the rules 40%. 60% marks would be taken on account from the GUJCET score for the admission process.
  • Eligibility for B. Tech (Agri. Engg.) Group B- For students who have selected subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology must have obtained a minimum of 35% for SC/ST/SCEB class and 40% for other categories (Apart from the gracing marks). The English language is compulsory for both groups.
  • CBSE students' admission will proceed via the pro-rata method.
  • The application form for Group A and B are different. An extra 5% marks are provided for the sports quota for candidates applying from both the groups.
  • Students who have passed with a vocational stream in their 12th with compulsory English can also apply for undergraduate programs.

Seat Availability

The undergraduate program has an intake of 90 students which is further classified into different seat allocation for admission. 72 seats are open for all and 05 seats are available for other board students and 13 seats are available for ICAR and government of Indian nominee students. There is also additional seat provision for Kashmiri Migrants and Parsi Community provided they are domiciled in Gujarat State. A reservation of 15 % is given for ICAR candidates who are nominated by ICAR respectively. 5% of seats are also available for physically challenged students.

When it comes to the reservation, among the allotted seats for the undergraduate program,49% of seats have been reserved for various Backward Classes. Under this reservation it is further classified into 15% reservation for Scheduled Tribes, 7% for Schedule Caste, and 27% for Socially and Educationally Backward Communities.

The other reservations granted by the JAU for the undergraduate program are as follows:

  • 1% of seats are reserved for relations of people in defense and ex-servicemen.
  • 15% of seats are reserved for students nominated by ICAR and the government of India.
  • The other category people are open to application apart from the allotted 28% seats only if there is a cancellation of admission and availability of free seats from the aforementioned reservation seats.

Selection Criteria

Eligible candidates are selected only if they fall under the JAU standards and secure the minimum cut off marks in GUJCET merits. The following table gives a cutoff range for the students applying for undergraduate programs.

The minimum cutoff range for GUJCET is Caste-based. For the open category a minimum mark of 48.57 needs to be obtained to get selected in the CAET UG program, For the OBC category a range above 49.18 marks is required for selection, For the SC category 30.95 marks have to be gained and for ST at least a score of 30.57 is required. The assessment for the selection of a candidate for the UG program at CAET can be derived as :

  • 40% Academic Marks + Minimum Cut Off Marks from GUJCET = Average considerable candidate. Candidates scoring above this optimal requirement are given priority in the selection process. 
  • While selection 5% marks are relaxed for Farmer's son/daughter and 15% marks are relaxed for Fisherman’s son/daughter under the submission of necessary documents respectively.0.5% to 7% marks are relaxed for students obtaining various rewards in the sports activity. Counseling

After the successful submission of the application form, candidates undergo various counseling rounds wherein seats are allotted to students. Counseling rounds usually take place after the announcement of college allocation for students based on their GUJCET and academic marks, If the student does not confirm the admission to the college the seat is then vacant and is available for allotting other candidates in the further rounds of the admission process. Before the announcement of 2nd round seat allocation, a counseling round is held where students are called for discussion from the admission committee. It was not before 1994 from where the college offered an M. Tech program in different disciplines. The disciplines included Farm Machinery & Power Engineering, Soil & Water Engineering, Processing, and Food Engineering, and Renewable Energy Engineering respectively with an intake of 30 students each year. To meet the professional requirement of Master’s Degree infrastructure the college provides a central computer lab facility where all practical exposure is given to students, where flagship projects are conducted by JAU. Exposure to these helps Master’s Students to gain a handful of skills in agriculture-based technology. The candidate's Eligibility criteria differentiate with the specialization course applied by the candidate. No Direct admission is available.

Seat Availability

The total intake for Master’s Degree is 30, Under which the college has to give 15% seats for ICAR nominees, Remaining seats are dedicated to Candidates securing the minimum required eligibility criteria for admission of the master’s program at CAET. The students' number to be admitted is decided by the committee of Dean including Dean of PG Studies as chairman and Registrar.

According to the above-mentioned table, the SC category has a reservation of 07% of total seats, the ST category has 15% reserved seats, SEBC has 27% reservations, and Physically handicapped have 05% reservations on seats. The Parsi Community of Gujarat state and Kashmiri migrants don't have reservations in PG programs from the JAU. People in Defence and students from CBSE also are denied reservations and all these people come under other categories. ICAR has 25% reserved seats for PG programs at CAET Junagadh.

Selection Criteria

For PG selection the applying candidate must have passed a Bachelor’s degree with an OGPA of not less than 6.00 out of 10.00 basis. Candidates who belong to SC/ST/SEBC class must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the required field with an OGPA not less than 5.50 out of 10.00 basis. Students are called for a counseling round and a personal interview round, performance based on these rounds determine the selection of a candidate. The college must provide the selected category of Specialisation.

Counseling

After the successful application for the Entrance exam, students who have scored the minimum required marks for the Master’s Programme in the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Junagadh will undergo various rounds for selection before admission to the college. These rounds are the admission rounds that allot students' colleges based on the merit list. Entrance Exam

Seat Availability

The intake for the Ph.D. program is 15, and the students are required to do research on the ongoing projects by ICAR and actively participate in experimenting and developing through advanced technology that can be used in agriculture. Eligible candidates must appear for the entrance test and interview with their own consent. The seats for the Ph.D. program is solely determined by the college Dean and Registrar with respect to the marks obtained in the entrance exam followed by the performance in the interview.

Seats for ICAR and Govt. India nominees are reserved as per university norms. For the SC, ST, SCEB, in-service candidates are also reserved according to the university rules. For a Ph.D. program in CAET Junagadh, the candidate is selected on merits of the entrance exam, research topic, performance in interview which mostly emphasis the insights of research technique and adapting capacity of the student.

Syllabus

Candidates can get the latest updated syllabus on the official website of gujcet. For the entrance exam, the syllabus mostly comprises the topics covered in 12th standard GSEB. Preparation tips for the Entrance Exams 

Candidates who wish to successfully get admitted to the desired college require adequate preparation for the exam, before appearing for the same. A well-prepared student has a higher chance of scoring better in the Entrance Exam. Here are a few basic guidelines for candidates who aspire to crack the entrance exam and enroll in the CAET, Junagadh.

  • Regularly keeping updates on Entrance exam details and other activities will help students to be updated with all required information about the ongoing examination sessions.
  • Solving previous questionnaires that appeared on the examinations respectively will guide students to solve the question paper within the time limit.
  • Preparing under proper syllabus for GUJCET and constantly revising the same will automatically enable students to grasp questions from any given topic easily.
  • Preparing a checklist on the procedure followed by the candidate for the examination will help students to review their process easily and guide them to the correct format of the procedure.

Hall ticket /Admit Card

Hall ticket or Admit Card will be sent to candidates in their registered email- Id whilst filling the form. Candidates can also log in to the GUJCET in order to get the admit card. Students can download the same. In case of Errors and rectification in the admit doing contact the GUJCET Cell as soon as possible for the same to be corrected. Carrying Admit Card in the Examination hall is mandatory. A nominal charge will cost for students who have either lost their admit card or did not carry the admit card for the examination. Case of students who have lost their admit card can reprint the copy of the admit card by logging in to the GUJCET website. The results will be announced on the GUJCET website. Depending on the result and class further application of the centralized admission for colleges will take place.

Results

The results will be announced online at the GUJCET portal. Since it's a centralized admission the result will be encapsulating all of Gujarat’s Candidates who have applied for the GUJCET. While preparing for the merit list for the Entrance Exam the following formula is considered for the same.

Avg. Marks 40% of PCM/PCB/PCMB at 12th standard + GUJCET scores = Merit list position of the candidate.

Based on this merit list colleges consider the candidateship of a student for their university. After the announcement of results, the GUJCET website publishes the ideal answer sheet for the exam paper for students to review the correct answers. Requests for students' answer sheets can be done online via the GUJCET website. The Results for the year 2020 were declared on 09- September-2020.

Counseling for admissions to CAET, Junagadh 2024

After the successful submission of the application form, candidates are expected to confirm the allotted colleges by the GUACA committee. Counseling rounds occur wherein seats are allotted to students, who have either canceled their college admission or did not get an appropriate college in the first round (the allotment is done based on vacant seats and scores obtained by the candidate only). Before the announcement of 2nd round seat allocation, a counseling round is held where students are called for discussion from the admission committee.

The candidates who wish to have a successful admission must keep in mind the following details.

  • Candidates must meet the minimum score of the JAU standards.
  • Candidates need to have compulsory English language in their 12th HSC.
  • Candidates performing well and scoring above average marks in the Entrance exam are given a priority.
  • ICAR Nominees have reserved seats.
  • Domiciled and resident candidates within a 5 km radius are preferred by the college.
  • All necessary documents need to be self-attested.
  • Additional curricular activities add to the application of the candidate.
