Library

The University library has modern facility to collect, evaluate and organize information resources that adequately support the curricula of the colleges, the research programmes and the general informational needs of the university. The library is computerised and automated of its operations. The library allows open access to its collection and provides services to its users. The Campus Wide Local Area Network has been developed and a lease line of 100 Mbps with 24 hours connectivity provided under NKN Project. The State of art IT services have been used/utilised to provide a single point online access to various digital resources and other library services to its users. The library provides access to about 3400 journals in the broad spectrum of Agricultural Sciences including Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Livestock Management & Poultry Sciences, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Animal Nutrition and allied subjects through the Consortium for electronic Resources in Agriculture (CeRA). Access has been provided to KrishiPrabha, a database of doctoral dissertations and theses submitted to Agricultural Universities in India. In addition links have been given to various open access electronic information resources. The Library provides the facility of Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) not only inside the library but throughout the campus vide intranet. Library has procured 20 e-books for the academic community of GADVASU. The university library has also subscribed to 11 foreign journals, 7 Indian journals and two databases (Veterinary Science Database and Indiastat.com) during the year 2013-14.

Student Corner

Our students are doing well in different extra mural activities at all India Agricultural & Veterinary Inter University fests and they have won a number of prizes and trophies in these events so we are organising this festival to polish and develop their talent and skill. It will be the spring board for students to achieve the new heights. Rangoli, Clay Modelling, painting, quiz, cartooning, collage making, photography, debate and poetic competitions are an essential part of studentship so it is right of students to enjoy this flavour. The students are in Great Spirit and full of zeal to become the part of youth festival. They are devoting their extra time to prepare their events to stage it in exclusive manner.

National Service Scheme (NSS) & Remount Veterinary Corps

To promote students participation in community service, the university is running National Service Scheme. NSS volunteers donate blood directly to the Hospitals in case of emergency. The blood donation camps are organised in collaboration with DMCH and other social organisations. The main focus of the scheme is on personality development through community service. University NSS volunteers have always played a pivotal role in extending value based services during every hour of need. Tree plantation, community health programs, debates/discussions on socially relevant issues such as AIDS, drug menace are some of projects being pursued by NSS volunteers RVC (Remount Veterinary Corps) students take part in equestrian championship and take part in horse show jumping and tent pegging. The prestigious ‘Sharma Trophy ‘ of Tent pegging has been consecutively won in 2009 and 2010 by GADVASU students. GADVASU girls have won many gold medals in Hacks and show jumping.

Hostels

The university has three hostels for boys and one girsls hostel separately with a capacity to accommodate 400 boys and around 140 girl students. The facility is available for all out-station under graduates and post graduate students. Every hostel inmate is provided with a study table, chair and an almirah. In addition every hostel has amenities including Mess, Canteen, TV room, recreational facilities such as indoor and outdoor games.
