Since this college, GIDC Degree Engineering College, Navsari, has just had one year out and it's relatively a new college, commenting on the placement would be immature.
Given that, the placement of the student is something the college works for but the results are yet to be reaped.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
The eligibility criteria for admission is same as that of any normal engineering college.
A student is supposed to pass 10+2 for admission in the first year and diploma in the same field for admission in the second year of the discipline (also known as diploma2degree/ d2d).
For admission, it is required for a student to also pass the IIT JEE MAIN entrance examination.
Admissions are conducted by ACPC and there is no management quota.
Typical cutoff depends upon the year's list and student's caste.
Fees & Scholarships :
The course fee changes every year and increases by approximately 10% for every new batch at GIDC Degree Engineering College, Navsari.
The current course fee stands at something around Rs 60000 but there is no guarantee that it will increase or decrease or remain the same.
The fee is usually stated in the ACPC guide book which every student gets and the fee is same for each semester/year.
Scholarships are usually furnished to the reserved castes aka SC, ST, OBC and the forms are available at the college administration.
Academics & Faculty :
The college starts at 8:50 am and has 6 lectures of 1 hour each with a break of 10 minutes at 10:50am and another of 40 minutes at 1pm.
There's a break after every 2 lectures. Every year, the student is supposed to write assignments and tutorials and lab manuals which depend on the subject.
The quantity of the assignment depends upon the lecturer.
As with every other college, there are some professors that are really good while some of them know a lot about their subject but fail at delivering it out to students at GIDC Degree Engineering College, Navsari.
Overall, the college is good for students that want to study.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
There are no hostels of the college.
There are hostels at approximately 10km from mother college where one can easily get rooms.
PG is available in the village at about Rs 400-500 per month.
The food in the canteen in above average and eatable. It isn't anything like one would get at the canteens of the city College but it is comparatively good for its location. The canteen is kept clean and the food isn't that spicy.
The cost of the food is also reasonable and there are shops outside college for other foods not available at the college.
The infrastructure of the college is really good compared to other colleges.
It has new equipment in the labs and the college departments try to get newer equipment with time.
The computers are equipped with latest softwares.
The library has books required for courses and the Internet facility is available for use after getting the permission from the concerned faculty. However, there is no WiFi facility for students at GIDC Degree Engineering College, Navsari.
Clubs & Associations :
There aren't much clubs at the college and the college is void of the politics one usually finds at other colleges.
Festivals are usually celebrated in even semesters.
This includes sports week and annual function and if the students want they can also organise tech fests.
The life in college is usually boring because bunking classes and leaving the college campus before time is prohibited.
The canteen visiting times are limited and one can only visit the library in breaks or after 3:40 pm at GIDC Degree Engineering College, Navsari.
