Central Citrus Research Institute (CCRI) is a government college established in 1985 in Nagpur when the foundation stone was laid at the hands of the then Hon'ble Shri P.V. Narshimharao. Their aim is to promote and advance the study of and research in citrus development with special reference to horticulture and citriculture research development work being done in different countries and also to promote the development of a sound citrus industry in India
Central Citrus Research Institute provides research in the field of citrus agriculture and it also offers consultancy in the field. CCRI is a research-based center under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) which is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Indian Government. CCRI admission is merit-based.

Ph.D. also referred to as Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture is a 3-year full-time doctorate course in Agriculture. It is a research-based course. In this course, candidates learn how to produce food, fiber, and fuel. This course covers main areas such as plant genetics, physiology of plants, soil sciences, crop management, etc. The students of this course come to know about the fundamentals of agriculture and crop production.
