Situated in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, IES University is a private institution established in 1999. It offers a wide range of programs across diverse disciplines, including professional courses in engineering, pharmacy, medical, allied health science, and many more. When it comes to the quality of education, students have mixed reviews as there are inconsistencies in the academics and career prospects for different programs.

While some students consider their experience at the university top-notch with excellent academics and good professors, others mention it as just average. In addition, the course fees for the programs offered by the university may be above the budget for students from different socioeconomic backgrounds.

Nevertheless, the university boasts a well-facilitated infrastructure with well-maintained facilities for both academic and extracurricular activities. The university is renowned for its wide array of courses across over 15 fields. It offers programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Diplomas, certificates, and integrated programs are also available at the university. Almost all the courses at the university are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), which signifies their quality. 

The university is primarily known for its Engineering programs available in the traditional disciplines, especially the Computer Science and Engineering programs. In addition to that, it also has professional courses in Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Allied Health Science, Management Studies, Agricultural Sciences, Law and so on. The top courses offered by the university include the following:

As mentioned above, the university offers doctoral programs in different disciplines, such as Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Nursing, Management, Science and Biotechnology. Students have to obtain a valid score in the competitive examinations to secure a seat in the full-time doctoral program offered by the university.

Overall, the quality of education at the university varies from course to course. The academic curriculum for the major programs was recently revised to include the topics and information relevant to the current industry trends. 

Students have mentioned that the industry-oriented courses provide them with a well-rounded education both in theoretical and practical learning. While there are some discrepancies among the classes, most programs at the university are consistently ranked well in the national rankings.

The average tuition fee for postgraduate programs is more than that for undergraduate programs. For instance, the annual MBA program course fees are usually around INR 2.6 lakhs.

In addition to the tuition fees, students are bound to pay the additional costs for exams, hostels, libraries, and other miscellaneous expenses. 

Attendance Policy

There are no definitive strict rules regarding students' attendance at the university. However, they are expected to maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in all practical and theoretical sessions across different subjects to be eligible for appearing in the end-semester examinations.

Good Professors But Not the Best

Even though the professors at the university are knowledgeable and have the required qualifications, the overall teaching quality is average. The students' reviews on online platforms suggest that the professors at the university find it challenging to solve students' queries due to their limited knowledge and experience in the respective fields. 

While additional activities like group discussions and extra preparation strategies are included in the course curriculum, the professors tend to stick to traditional teaching methods, which make their classes less exciting and interactive. Some students have also mentioned that the professors are less approachable. 

Though most of the faculty members here are supportive, they tend to be ruthless with their students due to the added pressure exerted on them by the senior professors and university management.

Excellent Infrastructure

One of the best features of the university is its infrastructure, which includes all the essential facilities to provide a conducive learning environment for the students. The university has a lush green campus with modern infrastructure across a vast area of over 50 acres of land. The facilities at the university are said to be well-maintained and generally clean.

The university boasts spacious classrooms well-equipped with audio-visual facilities, such as projectors and smartboards, that enhance the students' overall learning experience. The other seminar halls, conference rooms, and academic facilities are well-maintained and adequately equipped.

Each relevant department at the university has well-equipped laboratories praised for state-of-the-art infrastructure that enables students to develop and polish their practical skills. The laboratories have updated instruments and facilities paired with modern technology, facilitating practical learning and cutting-edge research.

The university has a central library houses a vast collection of resources, like textbooks, journals, book volumes and other resources. The library also has modern facilities such as Wi-Fi connectivity and computer systems, which can be utilised to access electronic resources and online databases. However, some students have mentioned that the university library has fewer resources than the other prominent university libraries.

The university gives great importance to sports activities and has included numerous facilities to ensure students can pursue their interests in different sports and games. 

The university has a well-established sports complex, which includes courts and fields for various sports like badminton, basketball, football, cricket, volleyball, etc. There are different facilities for indoor sports, like carrom, chess, table tennis, etc. It also has a large swimming pool where various competitions are conducted annually. 

To ensure students maintain their physical fitness and academics, the university has also included a well-equipped gymnasium.

The canteen/ cafeteria at the university is one of the most popular hang-out spots where a variety of food and beverages are available at affordable prices. The canteen is spacious, clean, hygienic and the food quality is satisfactory.

In short, the university boasts a well-facilitated, modern infrastructure that includes all the essential facilities to cater to students' academic and extracurricular needs. Though a few areas require improvement, students are generally satisfied with the university's infrastructure.

Limited Housing

The university provides housing facilities for both boys and girls in separate hostels within the campus. Basic amenities such as beds, tables, chairs, cupboards, Wi-Fi connectivity, etc., are available within the hotels for all students. In addition to that, the hostels also consist of essential facilities for laundry and recreational activities. However, there is limited occupancy available in the hostels, and the rooms are primarily allocated for first-year students.

Nonetheless, the hostels have modern facilities that provide students with both comfort and convenience. Timely meals are served within the hostels through separate mess facilities. Though the food served lacks variety, the general hygiene and cleanliness within the mess and dining facilities are maintained.

The safety and security of students are assured by round-the-clock security guards placed at all the university gates. Additionally, the university has strict rules and regulations imposed on hostel inmates regarding curfew timings and guest visitors. These rules ensure the overall security of the students.

Due to the limited occupancy of hostels within the university campus, most students opt for off-campus accommodation in private hostels, PGs and apartments available near the university. Students can choose the type of accommodation based on their preferences and budget. The PGs and apartments are available at varying prices based on the students' requirements and luxuries. Typically, the monthly rents for these apartments and PGs range between INR 3000 and INR 20,000.

Vibrant Campus Life

Though there is limited scope for strong academic excellence, students at the university are assured of having a vibrant and enriching campus experience as there are numerous opportunities to pursue their interests and hobbies alongside academics. The university hosts various events, competitions, and fests for extracurricular and recreational activities throughout the year.

In terms of academic events, the university organises different seminars, webinars, workshops and guest lectures, which are insightful and informative. Students gain a lot of information and learn more about their respective fields and career prospects, which prepare them better for their future careers. The university also regularly invites industry professionals to help students build a strong network within the industry.

Additionally, the university has numerous cultural, literary and technical clubs. Some prominent clubs and societies at the university are for sports, research and development, literature, music and dance activities. While the university attracts students from different regions of the country, the student body here predominantly consists of students from the state. It also has a balanced gender ratio across various disciplines, with students receiving equal opportunities irrespective of their background. However, due to the comparatively higher fee structure, there are limited students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.

Dress Code

The university has a defined uniform and dress code for students, which are different for each department. The students are also expected to wear modest and appropriate clothing on campus. They are supposed to dress respectfully for the regular sessions and wear formal attire for professional and academic events.

Mediocre Placements

According to the official reports, the university has provided successful placement opportunities to more than 80% of its graduating students. Over 250 reputed companies have participated in the placement drives held on the university campus. The engineering disciplines, especially the computer science and engineering branch, have witnessed the highest number of placements over the years. 

Apart from the engineering programs, students in the pharmacy and management disciplines have obtained successful placements from top companies in their respective fields. Based on the records from previous years, the highest salary package offered to the students was INR 21 LPA, with more than 50 companies providing an annual CTC of more than INR 5 LPA.
