Indian Board of Alternative Medicine was established in the year of 1991 as a not-for-profit institution for the promotion and propagation of various systems of alternative medicines, viz. Naturopathy, Yoga, Herbal Medicines, Meditation Reiki, Nutrition, etc both in India and worldwide. The institute is Registered by the Government of West Bengal under Act XXVI based on the Central Government Act XXI of 1860.

Over the years, Indian Board of Alternative Medicines has organized several National and International Conferences, attended by participants from more than 100 countries; published more than 100 books on the different systems; and trained many hundreds of students on the efficacy of alternative medicines. Indian Board of Alternative Medicines, [IBAM] Kolkata offers undergraduate courses, PGDs and MD programmes. It also offers opportunities for research. Its programmes have received recognition by bodies in USA, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand over the years; as well as its student’s certificates were attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
