The CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) is one of the oldest National Laboratories under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). It started as the Central Laboratories for Scientific & Industrial Research (CLSIR) by the then princely State of Hyderabad in 1944. CSIR-IICT during its seventy year journey has made its mark as a dynamic, innovative and result oriented R&D organization. The clientele spans all comers of the globe. In India it is the reliable destination of chemical and biotech industries. The CSIR came into existence in 1942 as an autonomous body registered under the Societies Act. With the creation of CSIR in New Delhi, the Government of India requested the British Government for expert advice on the organization of scientific research in India.Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, established in 1944, is a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. With its expertise in chemistry and chemical technology, it provides solutions to challenges faced by Industry, Government Departments and Entrepreneurs through basic and applied research, and process development. It is internationally recognized for its contributions to chemistry research and is an ideal place for taking ideas to commercialization through state of the art research and development.CSIR-IICT will strive towards knowledge intensive translational research in chemistry to meet the country’s expectations with novel technologies
CSIR-IICT has an active research program leading to Ph.D. degree in Chemical, Biological and Engineering Sciences. The students can register in AcSIR (preferably) or other State and Central Universities for their degrees. We provide accommodation on nominal charge in hostels for outstation prospective students to have interactive meetings with the supervisor and to have a feel about the campus on prior reservations and appointment.
