The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) is dedicated to scientific research and science education of international standards. Traditionally, teaching has been segregated from research in undergraduate science curricula in our country. The IISERs were established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to bridge this dichotomy. IISER TVM was founded in 2008. IISER TVM operates at Vithura, 40 kilometres from Thiruvananthapuram city, at the foot of the Ponmudi hills. With rich greenery and a spectacular mountain backdrop, this eco-friendly campus enjoys a tranquil environment, ideal for the conduction of research and learning. Separate hostel accommodation is provided for nearly 1050 boys and girls on the permanent campus. The institute has a fully functional multi-cuisine mess that is supervised by a student committee.

IISER Admission 2024

The institute aims to provide high-quality education in modern science, integrating it with outstanding research at the undergraduate level itself, and to develop a spirit of enquiry cutting across disciplines. IISER TVM is an autonomous institution offering a five-year BS-MS programme in addition to iPh.D and PhD programmes in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and inter-disciplinary areas. The institute has state-of-the-art and well-equipped laboratory facilities in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. The computer laboratory for undergraduate students has over 50 workstations. A Linux cluster of 120 Nodes is also available for teaching and research. Many courses are available on the electronic learning environment MOODLE. The campus is served by a 100 Mbps internet connection provided by the National Knowledge Network Project, soon to be upgraded to 1 Gbps.

IISER PG Admission 2024

The college currently offers an integrated programme of BS+MS. The barrier between the traditional disciplines is fast disappearing. Modern research problems span a wide range of areas. It helps to have basic training in a range of disciplines to succeed in modern research. Accordingly, IISER TVM BS-MS curriculum is designed to be dominantly interdisciplinary.

The college also offers a Summer Visiting Students Programme.  Due to the current COVID situation, this year's Summer Visiting Programme stands cancelled

IISER PG Eligibility

The BS-MS programme is of 10-semester duration. Candidate should have passed in 10+2 exams from a recognized board in the science stream. Candidates who are within 10000 ranks in JEE are qualified to apply. Candidate should take IISER Aptitude Test. Admission is based on merit and marks scored in IISER Aptitude Test

IISER PhD Admission 2024

The college offers Integrated PhD and PhD programmes. Integrated PhD Programme is a research programme. At the end of the successful completion, Master of Science and PhD degree is awarded. Short-listed candidates who have applied for School of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics will be called for a written test and those short-listed in the written test will appear for interview(s). n the School of Physics, candidates with a valid JEST scorecard will be called for the interview

IISER Thiruvananthapuram has a vibrant PhD Programme in the areas of Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Interdisciplinary areas. The Institute admitted it’s the first batch of doctoral students in August 2009 and currently has over 150 PhD researchers on its rolls. For admission, the candidate should appear for an interview and/or written test at IISER TVM. 

IISER PhD Eligibility

The duration of the PhD Programme is approximately 10 semesters. the minimum eligibility criteria for applying Qualify in at least one of the National Level Eligibility Tests or Fellowships or Obtain a minimum of 60% marks (or equivalent) in the Qualifying Degree.

The maximum duration of the Integrated Ph.D. programme is 14 semesters. The candidate should a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences/Chemical Sciences/ Mathematical Sciences/ Physical Sciences/ Engineering/ Technology with 55% marks from a recognized university.

The IISER Admission Form 2024 is available online and offline. Follow the steps below for filling IISER online application 2024

For integrated MS.

• Go the official website iisertvm.ac.in
• Click on Academics and choose BS+MS
• Then click on admission. It will take you to www.iiseradmission.in
• There click on BS+MS admission 2024 and fill the application form
• Select the nearest location for taking the IISER Aptitude Test.
• It will generate your hall ticket for IISER Aptitude Test. 

For PhD

• Applicants should complete the online application form at the URL: http://appserv.iisertvm.ac.in/phd
• Only applications complete in all respects would be considered. Do not forget to click the “Submit” button after completing your application.
• Applicants will also be prompted to upload all the supporting documents online.
• Applicants should provide Name/Affiliation/Contact number and Email addresses of two referees in the application form.
• Applicants belonging to GE/OBC and SC/ST/PH categories are required to make a payment of Rs. 500/- and Rs. 250/-, respectively, as a processing fee online at https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm
• On submission of the online application form, the applicants will receive an acknowledgement email with a unique application number.
• Applicants are NOT required to post a hard copy of the application to IISER TVM.
• Mere fulfilment of the eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called for the written test and/or interview.

For Integrated PhD.

• Applicants should complete the online application form at the following URL: http://appserv.iisertvm.ac.in/iphd/. Only online applications are accepted.
• Applicants will also be prompted to upload necessary supporting documents, like photograph, proof of date of birth, mark sheet/grade transcript, community certificate etc. in JPEG format only. Go to Required documents for the information regarding the size of the files.
• Candidates are required to make a payment of Rs. 500/- [candidates belonging to SC/ST category are exempted from payment] as processing fee through https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm
• On submission of the online application form, the applicants will receive an acknowledgement email with an application number.
• Candidates who wish to apply to individual/different schools through different streams (JGEEBILS, JAM, NBHM-MA/MSc, JEST & IISER test) need to fill separate application forms, and the separate fee has to be paid for each application.
• Short-listed applicants will be invited for a written test/interview at IISER TVM.
