Infrastructure Facilities at Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Palakkad:

The current campus of the college is under-construction, near Palakkad town which is very close to the railway station. Below are the infrastructure facilities available in the college campus:

Academic building:

Set up in the sprawling Ahalia Integrated campus, the temporary set up of the Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Palakkad will have all the facilities required for hazel free academic environment. A 55,000 sqft academic building, which will house six classrooms, a seminar room, an auditorium, library, 80 seater computer room, cafeteria and faculty offices are already available. For the curious and the tinkerer, this building will also house a dedicated innovation lab. All classrooms and seminar halls will be video-enabled and connected through the National Knowledge Network to IIT Madras and other established IITs.

Library:

The college library is known as the information center. The library has a vast range of books, journals, magazines, and e-books. Students can get access to high-speed internet as the library is wi-fi enabled. A separate space is allotted for the computer room which is used for gathering online information and research purposes.

There are over 4,500 books related to science, technology and research background. The college has subscriptions to magazines and journals as well. Students and Faculties can get access to the library round the clock, even during weekends. 

High-Performance Computing Cluster - Chandra: [HPC]

Chandra is the name of the computing service at the college. Chandra provides a platform for computing that is used for research purposes. This system was built in 2015. The cluster has 64 nodes connected with 12 core intel dual processors. The HPC installed on the campus was one of the first in India which used an onmipath internet connection. 

Hostels Facilities:

With spacious, double occupancy rooms, with attached toilets in every room, access to internet and recreational facilities and a separate dining block, the hostels at IIT Palakkad are on partnership with the best available in any other IIT. Set up in a calm and safe environment the hostels are only 500 mts from the academic building.

Boys and Girls hostels, and a dining facility, equipped to seat up to 120 students at a time, form a separate secured block on the campus which will also have volleyball and basketball courts.

In addition, there will be a gym and access to football/cricket grounds on the campus.

Medical facilities:

The campus has several hospitals and the students, faculty, and staff of IIT Palakkad will have access to the general medical facilities available in these hospitals.

Other facilities:

The Ahalia campus houses an engineering college, a management school, an Ayurvedic college, an eye hospital, and a diabetic hospital. Since most of the faculty, staff, and students of these institutions also reside in the campus shopping and other essential amenities are available within the campus. There are two restaurants functioning within the campus.

Ahalia runs an organic farm and the products from this farm are available through the outlets located on the campus.
