IISER Through JEE Advanced 2024: Eligibility, Admission Process

IISER through JEE Advanced 2024 allows students to get admission to BS-MS (Bachelor of Science & Master of Science) dual degree programs through two different channels, namely the IAT and JEE Advanced. 

The eligibility criteria for IISER through JEE Advanced are based on the candidates' nationality, age, educational qualification, and performance in the IISER Aptitude Test 2024. For admission to IISER through JEE Advanced, the candidate must score at least 75% in 10+2 for the general category and 65% for the ST/SC/PwD categories. 

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) has established the IISER eligibility criteria for candidates seeking admission to Integrated science-oriented programs at its seven campuses in India.

IISER Through JEE Advanced 2024: Eligibility Criteria

There are two channels to gain admission to IISER: JEE Advanced and IISER aptitude test. Candidates who wish to apply for admission based on IISER through JEE Advanced 2024 must meet the following eligibility requirements and the common IISER eligibility criteria 2024:

• Minimum Rank: The minimum rank requirement as per the JEE Advanced CRL is 15000
• Nationality: Foreign and Indian nationals, including OCI/PIO cardholders
• Percentage in Class 12th: Candidates seeking admission to IISER must have a minimum aggregate score of 60% in class XII or an equivalent exam.

In addition to the above qualifying criteria for IISER through JEE Advanced 2024, candidates must obtain the board-wise cutoff marks. Suppose the board's name is not listed in the board-wise IISER cutoff list 2024. In that case, the candidate must either produce a certificate from their respective board stating their position among the top 20 percentile holders, or the CBSE board's qualifying cutoff will be used.

Note: IISER through JEE Advanced was accepted until 2023. From 2024, students will only be admitted through the IISER Aptitude Test.

Eligibility Criteria for the IISER Aptitude Test 2024

The students who have passed or have appeared for the JEE Advanced exam can also take the IISER aptitude test. Students can take the IISER aptitude test directly even if they haven’t appeared for any national-level examination. Here are the eligibility criteria for the IISER aptitude test 2024:

• Nationality
• Age and Qualification
• Performance

Eligibility Criteria for the IAT Based on Nationality

The students can check the eligibility criteria for the IAT based on nationality from the pointers given below. 

• The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
• The candidate can be a PIO (Person of Indian Origin). In simple terms, the candidate can be a foreign citizen with an Indian passport or who has parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who were born and permanent residents of India. 
• The candidate can be an OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India). It's an immigration status that allows foreign citizens of Indian origin to live and work in India indefinitely.

Note: To be eligible for IAT 2024, OCI/PIO card holders must also satisfy other eligibility criteria. They shall be eligible to compete for the unreserved seats.

Eligibility Criteria for the IAT Based on Age and Qualification

The students can check the eligibility criteria for the IAT based on age and educational qualifications from the pointers given below. 

• The candidate must have cleared the Class XII or equivalent level examination in 2022, 2023, or 2024 from any board recognized by the COBSE in India.
• Candidate must have at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics during their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
• SC/ST/PwD candidates are required to score a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
• Candidates from other categories must score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.

Note: The students from JKBOSE, from Kashmir division/Winter Zone areas of Jammu division, and the U.T. of Ladakh who appeared in their Class XII or equivalent level examination in December 2021 are also eligible to apply for the IAT 2024, provided they satisfy all the other eligibility criteria. During the application process, these students must pick 2022 as their year of passing the class 12 examination.

Eligibility Criteria for the IAT Based on Performance

The students can use the pointers given below to check the eligibility criteria for the IAT based on their exam performance. 

• Candidates who have appeared for the class XII or equivalent examination but whose results have not been declared can appear for the IAT. However, their admission is subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
• For candidates who had appeared in the Class XII or equivalent examination for the first time in 2023 and reappeared in any subject in 2024, the better of two performances will be taken into consideration.
• If a board follows a grading system without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidates must obtain a certificate specifying the equivalent marks. If the board does not issue any certificate, candidates can use the following formula to calculate the marks obtained or the IAT rank predictor can also help.

JEE Advanced IISER Exam Pattern

To get admission to IISER through JEE Advanced, students must also appear for an aptitude test conducted by IISER for the candidates who have passed the JEE Advanced exam. The IISER cutoff JEE Advanced will be announced soon after the authorities release the results.

IISER Admission Process Through JEE Advanced 2024

The students are requested to keep the required documents for admission handy to have a smooth IISER admission process:

• Step 1: Visit the official website of IISER.
• Step 2: Click on the "Admissions" tab on the top menu of the homepage.
• Step 3: The student should log in with their personal details and credentials in the application portal.
• Step 4: Once the application is submitted, the students will have to undergo IISER counselling through JEE Advanced. 
• Step 5: The students can log in and check the seat availability and the JEE Advanced rank for the chosen course.
• Step 6: If the student has received any information on the seat-blocking email, then the student can either freeze, accept or reject the seat.
• Step 7: Once the seat is accepted, the student must pay the seat allocation fee via net banking, DD, or UPI. 
• Step 8: The student has to take a printout of the seat allocation fee payment receipt. 

Note:

1. JEE Advanced 2024 will fill 50% of IISER seats for General, SC, ST, and OBC Non-creamy category candidates.
2. The remaining seats will be filled through other means based on the results of the IISER Aptitude Test 2024.
3. IISER through JEE Advanced admission 2024 will be based on the candidate's merit rank, filled-out preferences, and seat availability.
4. The IISER will not publish any cutoff marks for admissions. Only the top candidates chosen through JEE channels will be admitted to the IISER through JEE Advanced 2024.
5. The candidates cannot get into IISER through JEE Mains

Preparation Tips for IISER through JEE Advanced

An adequately prepared candidate can be admitted to IISER through JEE Advanced. The following tips will greatly assist the candidate in clearing their doubts about the IISER exam:

• Do a lot of practice questions. This will help you develop the habit of approaching a problem with all possible solutions in mind.
• Take brief notes on various topics relevant to the exam.
• Practice using previous year's papers. This will give candidates an idea of what questions were asked in the exam and what they can expect in the upcoming exam.
• Get enough rest and nutritious food. On the test day, the mind must be alert and engaged.
