IIT Bombay Refund and Cancellation Policy 2026
The refund policy at IIT Bombay follows AICTE, JoSAA and IIT Council guidelines to ensure transparency and fairness for students opting out. If the candidate withdraws before the semester fee payment deadline, they get 100% of the paid academic fee back, minus only the JoSAA seat acceptance amount and a nominal INR 5,000 processing charge — caution deposits are always fully refunded. After fee payment but before classes begin, 80% of tuition is returned only if the vacated seat gets refilled. Once classes start, no tuition or hostel fee is refunded — only caution deposits are returned after clearance. For JoSAA/COAP “exit” or “float” options, central refund rules apply automatically.
