IIT Bombay infrastructure provides students with an optimal learning environment for students with its state-of-the-art facilities and spacious campus. The campus of IITB is spread over 545 acres amidst the bustling city of Mumbai.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay infrastructure aims towards students' holistic academic development and comfort. In addition to a vast accommodation, the college has a smart campus, hostels, a library, sports opportunities, and every other basic amenities required by the staff and students. Some highlighting features of the IIT Bombay campus are listed below.

Hostel

  • IIT Bombay hostels have separate facilities for boys and girls. 
  • There are 17 hostels on campus alongside guest rooms for students' parents.
  • Parents visiting their wards are accommodated into the guesthouse for a maximum of 7 days.
  • In addition to IIT Bombay students, interns from the summer and winter internships are also offered accommodation in the hostels.
  • Armed with amenities including a mess, TV room, bed, study table, cupboards, wifi connection, power backup and a sports complex, the IIT Bombay hostels are a home away from home for the students.

Library

  • IIT Bombay has a central library which has over 4 Lakh volumes.
  • The IIT Bombay campus library has around 11,000 members and uses social media regularly to stay connected with the users.
  • The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay library has over 2.5 Lakh books, theses, CDs and videos.
  • In addition, there are over 19,000 e-books, over 1.19 Lakhs bound volumes of journals, 67,920 reports and pamphlets, over 4400 photocopies and 37 Lakhs journals (both print and digital).
  • The library is generally open from 9 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 11 am to 1 pm on weekends, but the library is closed on National Holidays.
  • The IIT Bombay Infrastructure includes an IT system consisting of a campus-wide network which is built around a fibre optic Gigabit Ethernet backbone and has five routing switches.
  • The IT-Infrastructure of the IITB library has 12 servers and 45 PCs, with full wifi connection catering to every academic needs of the students and faculty members.
  • Six PCs have been provided for students to access databases, e-books and journals.

Sports Facilities

  • The IIT Bombay campus has both outdoor and indoor sporting facilities, various courts, and a swimming pool.
  • The campus has cricket, hockey, and football fields, volleyball courts, badminton courts, lawn tennis courts, and squash courts.
  • For indoor games, snooker and table tennis are available.
  • In addition, the IITB campus also organises a 3-day sporting event called “Aavhan”, encouraging students from all over the country to participate and compete against each other.
