The University of Jammu offers distance education through Directorate of Distance Education which was established in the year 1976. More than 12,000 students had undertaken distance learning programs in the academic year 2017-2018. The teaching and learning are done through multimedia.

Jammu University Courses include BA, B.Com, M.Com and many more programs. It has established a network of learning centres. The institution has faculty and staff who are well trained and are committed to provide education to distant learners. The institution is recognized by UGC and accredited 'A' grade by NAAC.

Jammu University - Distance Education Eligibility Criteria:

Course	Eligibility
BA/ B.com	Candidates should have completed 10+2 with 45% aggregate from J&K Board of School Education or they should have completed 10+2 with commerce subjects from J&K Board of School Education
M.Com	Candidates should have complete B.com or they should have completed any other bachelor degree with 60% aggregate or Students should have completed PGDBM with 50% aggregate
MA [Dogri]	Candidates should have completed graduation with a bachelors degree in any stream
MA [Economics]	Candidates should have completed BA/ B.Com with economics They should have completed B.Sc in Agriculture with agricultural economics as one of the subjects or They should have completed BA/ B.Sc with mathematics as an elective subject
MA	Candidates should have completed graduation with the relevant subject as an elective or They should have completed graduation in any other discipline with 60% aggregate
PGDBM	Candidates should have completed graduation in any discipline
