The Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education, [LNUPE] is located at Shantinagar, Gwalior. The LNUPE campus covers an area of about 153 acres and is fully residential. It was established in August 1957, the centenary year of the War of Independence and located at Gwalior, where Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi was the valiant hero of the war, had laid down her life during the First Freedom struggle against the British empire in 1857. The institute started as an affilated college of the Vikram University, Ujjain and then came to the folds of the another noted university called the Jiwaji University at Gwalior in 1964. In 1982, LNUPE became an Autonomous College. Since 2000, the institute came under the administrative jurisdiction of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Government of India. It is now fully funded by the Ministry for plan and non-plan expenditure.

Eligibility criteria for Undergraduate courses Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education, [LNUPE] Gwalior:

• The candidate must have passed Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2) or Intermediate/equivalent examination from any recognized Education Board/University etc. with at least 50% Marks for General and OBC categories.
• 45% Marks for SC/ST category and also for candidates who have participated in International/National/Inter University/School Nationals Games (SGFI) in Sports Competitions or position holders of Inter-Zonal University Games / Sports.
• No other championship shall be considered.

Eligibility criteria for Postgraduate courses Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education, [LNUPE] Gwalior:

• Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline recognized by the University/Institute or equivalent with 45% aggregate marks for General category.
• Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline with 40% aggregate marks for SC/ST/OBC category.

Hostels facilities at Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education, [LNUPE] Gwalior:

• The Institute has five men's hostels and one women's hostel.
• It is mandatory for all the students to reside in the hostels and take their meals in the mess run by the Institute.
• At present hostel accommodation is provided free of charge to BPE, MPE & M.Phil students subject to their satisfactory conduct at the Institute.
• In case of misconduct the student may be asked to pay hostel fee as prescribed by the Institute for the whole academic session.
• It is mandatory for all the students to reside in the hostels and take their meals in Mess run by the Institute.
• Rules for staying in the hostel and dining in the mess will be supplied to the newly admitted students.
• Ragging is banned at the Institute. Any body involved in ragging may be subjected to expulsion from the Institute.
