• The National Institute of Design (NID) has announced that admit cards for the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2025 Prelims will be downloaded on December 24, 2024, by 4 PM. Successful candidates who have registered can log in to their NID admit cards at the official admissions website at admissions.nid.edu.

December 2, 2024

• NID, will close the NID DAT application form 2025 on December 3, 2024 (4 p.m.). Candidates who meet the program-specific eligibility criteria may apply before the application closing time. Note that it is unlikely the last date will be extended.

The NID Bengaluru campus, located in Yeshwanthpur, Karnataka, Bengaluru, is one of the three campuses of the National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad. It was established in March 2006 as a collaboration between the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India. 

Earlier it was offering only two postgraduate programs and now it focuses solely on Masters in Design, with specializations in Design for Retail Experience, Digital Game Design, Information Design, Interaction Design, and Universal Design. The campus is situated on a 2-acre site

NID Bangalore Courses & Fees 

NID Bengaluru Campus offers only 5 master's programmes (2.5 years). Masters in Design programmes in Retail Experience, Digital Game Design, Information Design, Interaction Design and Universal Design.

NID Bangalore Admissions

Admission in NID Banglore for all the MDes Courses will be on an entrance basis called NID DAT which is scheduled for 5th January 2025.

About NID DAT (Design Aptitude Tests) - 

The Design Aptitude Tests will be conducted in two stages:

Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims

Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains

About DAT Prelims:- 

The M.Des. DAT Prelims is a paper-and-pencil/pen test, conducted at the same time on the same day across all test centres. The question asked may involve text and visuals

Note - The question paper will be in English language ONLY.

Based on the DAT Prelims scores, separate merit lists shall be prepared for each category (GENERAL, GENERAL-EWS, OBC-NCI, SC, ST & PWD) as applied for by the candidate for each discipline. 

Only shortlisted candidates as per merit will be eligible to appear for the DAT Mains exam as per the schedule announced.

About DAT Mains for M.Des: - 

Based on the scores obtained in the DAT Prelims, candidates will be shortlisted for the DAT Mains as per merit. Admit Cards for shortlisted candidates will be available for download only on the official NID admissions website (https://admissions.nid.edu).

The DAT Mains for M.Des. programme consists of two parts: -

Studio Test: This may consist of tests in different formats. The DAT Mains will be conducted in English ONLY.

Interviews: The interviews will be conducted separately for each discipline, immediately

after the Studio Test, and at the same centre as the Studio Test.

Weights of DAT Prelims & DAT Mains for Final Result -

The final score of the candidate appearing for the M. Des programme of the National Institute of Design will be calculated based on the weightage of the marks obtained in the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains, as under - 

Note: Only those candidates who have appeared for all the tests in both stages will be considered eligible for the Final Merit List.

NID Bangalore Cutoff

NID Bangalore offers admission to the M.Des program based on the score obtained by the candidates in NID DAT (Prelims + Mains). Candidates seeking admission to NID Bangalore must meet the required cutoff score in NID DAT for the desired specialization of M.Des.

NID Bangalore Placements

NID conducts centralised placements for all three campuses in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bangalore. NID placements usually happen in November every year and students from these three campuses participate in the common drive.

NID Bangalore has an excellent placement record. As per sources, the placement is In the 2023 placement session, the average salary package offered to NID Bangalore students was INR 15 LPA. The highest salary package offered was INR 35 LPA.
