GetMyUni's Verdict on SAGE University

  • Indore , Madhya Pradesh
Compare

Marketing its brand name thoroughly, SAGE University is said to be one of the private universities in the country, with weak administration and even worse faculties. Past year students regret that they wasted their time and money on this university.

Located on the outskirts of Indore, SAGE University has a bad reputation among the students. The quality of education imparted by the university is considered to be the worst, with the professors forced to bring in students every year for admission.

Per students' insights on various online search portals, the admissions are held on a brokerage scheme where the teachers or students get paid for referring students to join the university. The university has strong marketing done across the media to cover up its reputation. The placement opportunities through the university are equally bad, with little to no good companies recruiting students from here.

SAGE University is part of the SAGE Group of Institutions, which gives it a brand value that is slowly declining due to the improper academic system that is cultivating unsuccessful students with no future opportunities.

Table of Contents

Enticing Courses & Programs

The university comprises around 14 institutes offering multiple undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in different disciplines—these institutes offer courses in the following fields.

  • Engineering & Technology
  • Architecture
  • Law & Legal Studies
  • Management Studies
  • Journalism & Mass Communication
  • Sciences
  • Commerce
  • Agriculture Science
  • Arts & Humanities
  • Biological Science
  • Computer Application
  • Advance Computing
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Design

The admission process for the university is conducted with a university-level entrance examination for different level courses. It is an easy exam compared to the national-level entrance tests. The most popular courses available at the university in the disciplines mentioned above, which have a decent pedagogy, are as follows.

  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master of Technology (M.Tech)
  • LLM.

The university was popular in the beginning, with the wide range of programs it has to offer. However, the popularity has slowly declined to a point where only some courses have a good education system in place.

Modern Infrastructure

The university infrastructure has all the facilities private universities are expected to offer. The university consists of modern amenities, including residential facilities. Each institute has its building with dedicated libraries and laboratories.

The laboratories are well equipped with modern amenities to help students have an advanced practical learning experience. In fact, the infrastructure is one of the few good features of the university. However, the campus lacks facilities for sports and games. But, the university is constantly making upgrades to the infrastructure, so these facilities can be expected to be available in the future.

The library is well curated with a good collection of resources that aid students for academic and research purposes. Students can utilize the seating spaces to read and study during working hours.

The advanced facilities at the laboratories deliver a holistic, practical learning experience, with all the required components available for conducting experiments. Engineering labs help students be provided with different instruments and amenities to put their creativity to use.

The Information Technology Laboratory has updated computer systems with network connections and can accommodate a large number of students at a time. Students have access to interactive software and other resources to enhance their learning in the fields of advanced graphic design, 3D designing, and other concepts.

Hostel Facilities

The university offers housing facilities on the campus through its hostel for boys and girls. The hostel rooms are well-furnished and cleaned by the staff. Timely meals are served in a hygienic environment through the mess attached to the hostel. As the university was recently established, the buildings are fairly new and have modern facilities.

Cafeteria

The campus has an active cafeteria that provides food and beverages in a spacious area, with ample amount of seating arrangements. The management keeps a close eye on the quality of the food that is served in the cafeteria. Students like to spend time in the cafeteria due to its cleanliness and ambiance.

Transportation

The university provides transportation facilities for day scholar students and staff members as the location of the campus is far from the city. But, the students have mentioned that the transportation fees are higher than regular commutes.

Uneventful Campus Life

The university conducts no particular events and fests, hence making it an uneventful campus life. Not many sports or cultural activities happen on the campus. The only enjoyable activity for the students is hanging out with their friends.

The campus is not diverse in terms of culture, as most of the students are based out of Indore itself. So, there is no exposure to other cultures and types of people. The university have not set strict rules or regulations for its student. The campus is safe for the students conduct their academic activities.

Dress Code

There is no particular uniform for students. They are allowed to wear casual clothes, but there are few restrictions on what kind of attire they can wear. The standards of the university dress code are as follows.

  • Boys and girls are not allowed to wear shorts and sleeveless shirts.
  • Girls must not wear spaghetti straps/strapless/off-shoulder/tank tops and tights/leggings.
  • T-shirts with obscene graphics are strictly prohibited.
  • Students must not wear flip-flops, caps, and hats to the classes.
  • Distressed/torn clothes are not allowed.
  • Girls must not wear exposing clothes.

Disappointing Faculties

The faculties are not up to the mark of a private university. There have been incidents where the faculty members had to get students to join the university on a brokerage basis. The professors are severely underpaid and made to do jobs like these, which makes the qualified teachers not want to work here.

The faculties' increments are based on the number of admissions they have managed to provide the university. They must stay in the good books of the management to stay in the university, which makes them unapproachable for the students.

Unreasonable Course Fees

The tuition fees for each course vary for different specializations. The average fees for primary courses, such as B.Tech, MBA, BCA and BBA, are between INR 2,15,000 and INR 2,55,000. Given that the university lacks in many crucial areas to function smoothly, the program fees charged is expensive.

Unsuccessful Placements

Another reason why the students are not recommended to join SAGE University is the lack of good placement opportunities. There are companies, like Tata Consultancy Services, that recruit students from the university, but the annual salary packages offered by these companies are lower than other universities.

The average salary package offered in the previous year was around INR 4 LPA. Some students have received INR 30 LPA offers, but the overall percentage is very low. Students from the MBA program have received an average placement package of INR 5 LPA, and the highest offer was INR 14 LPA.

Overall Impression of SAGE University

The university does not have high standards when it comes to the faculties and pedagogy. But, in terms of the infrastructure and facilities, the university is impressive. Students who are planning to join the university must research thoroughly the past year's students and their reviews before they proceed with the admission process.

The overall pros and cons of SAGE University are mentioned below for the reference of the students.
