Infrastructure at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, [SVBPUAT] Meerut:

Library:

  • The University Library has a collection of over 12,000 books and over 500 periodicals/journals.
  • University Library has adopted open access system with card catalogues (author/ subject and title wise) and Dewey decimal classification scheme.
  • It is planned to expand computerization of the activities in the library. The library is kept open from 10:00 am to 7.00 pm on all working days.
  • The books are issued to faculty members and students for a definite period.

Biocontrol Laboratory:

  • The laboratory is engaged in mass production of natural enemies of insects and laboratory host.
  • The culture of the host insect Corcyra Cephalon and Helicoverpa Armiger and bio-agents Trichogramma Spp., Crysoperla cornea, Beauveria Bassi ana, Pseudomonas and Metarhizium app. are maintained.
  • These bio-agents are disseminated to farmers.

Fisheries Research and Training Centre:

  • Facilities for composite fish culture and seed production techniques are available for self-employment.
  • Fish farming technology is beneficial for income generation to the students and entrepreneurs.
  • The Fisheries Research and Training Centre is useful to the students for imparting practical training, conducting research and other activities related to fish farming.

Herbal Garden: Medicinal & Aromatic Plants:

  • Herbal garden and an elite nursery are have been established in 2.0 ha area at Horticultural Research Farm Centre.
  • The herbal garden is being used as a resource point for identification and advocating the uses of medicinal plants and cultivation practices for students, scientists, farmers and extension personnel.

Food Processing Unit:

  • The model Agro-Processing facility has been developed at the University for the processing of fruits and vegetables with the financial support of ICAR, New Delhi under Experiential Learning Scheme.
  • This facility is very useful, especially for U.G./ PG students in order to get knowledge about hands-on-training in the area of Food Processing and value addition.
  • Farmers and entrepreneurs are also benefited through training and demonstration at the unit.

Plant Health Clinic:

  • Plant Health Clinic (PHC) was established in 2008-09 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, India with the financial assistance of National Horticulture Mission through State Horticulture Mission and U.P. Council of Agricultural Research, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The PHC is providing a comprehensive diagnostic and advisory service for all crop producers related to plant health problems.
  • The PHC has a team of experts of various discipline like Plant Pathologist, Entomologist, Plant Physiologist, Soil Scientist.

Animal Clinic:

  • Animal Clinic (doorstep clinical services on demand) under ICAR, Experiential Learning Scheme – Setting of facilities for hands-on training was established. Under this scheme, Animal Health Camps were organised with the help of KVKs in the area of jurisdiction of the University in which scientists from the Department of Animal Husbandry and 01 veterinary officers of the area along with the extension staff of the KVK participated.
  • On the spot treatment and vaccination was provided to the animals by the expert team of the University and the veterinary officer of the Animal Husbandry Department of Govt. of U.P. Mineral mixture digestibility stimulant and deformed etc. were distributed to the animal owners.
  • In addition, B.Sc. Ag. students were also provided information on these activities.
  • In addition under the Experiential Learning Scheme, the Plant and Clinic has also been established and the graduate students are being provided relevant information and exposure to practical problems likely to be faced under field conditions.
