Sidho Kanho Birsha University was established in the year 2010.
The university is located in Purulia in the state of West Bengal, India.
The first vice chancellor of the university was Tapati Mukherjee.
The university works with the main focus on the promotion and protection of culture and language especially the language of Santali.

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Programs at SKBU:
