Facilities :-
Library
The 180 square meter. library caters exclusively to the students and faculty of SNMA. It offers a broad range of titles relevant to maritime disciplines, mechanical engineering, computers and the basic sciences. The Library also receives a large number of popular magazines and current maritime journals. Multi-media resources are also available and are expected to grow. The library remains open over extended hours for the benefit of all the residents and is used extensively for research related to project assignments.
Laboratories
Laboratories are essential in supporting the classroom taught aspects of science, engineering and computer related subjects. To fulfill the needs of students and teachers, various well-equipped laboratories have been set up to demonstrate and teach the principles of material testing, mechanics, hydraulics, electric control systems, electronic equipment and electric machinery.
Computer based training modules like Engine Room Simulator used extensively.
Class Room
A large number of naturally ventilated are equipped with modern audio-visual aids. Subjects that require specialized equipment to be used during instruction are taught in suitably equipped, dedicated rooms. Each classroom can accommodate upto 40 students, and larger drawing halls are available when required.
Computer Facility
The campus has one modern Center of Technical Support(CTS) equipped with high performance servers and workstations. A wealth of software and several operating system platforms provide extensive opportunities and capabilities for advancing computer skills and allow the use of modern teaching methods like computer simulation and computer based instruction. SNMA is keenly aware of the importance of computers in all professions and will ensure that these facilities keep evolving to keep pace with the needs of students to develop a high degree of proficiency in computers related to their discipline.
A dedicated broadband connection from BSNL supported Internet connectivity to the campus. The fully switched network plus Wi-Fi capability in the residential hostels provides residents with 24x7 Internet access from almost anywhere on campus.
Hostel
Students reside in hostels each having 800 square meter with spacious room, modern kitchens and separate 100 seat dining halls. A reading room, a television room with a television and activity areas are located in the buildings. An internal quadrangle provides a large open space suitable for recreational or leisure activities A majority of hostel rooms also have Wi-Fi access to the campus data network, which enables broadband Internet connectivity.
Auditorium
A 120 seated fully air-conditioned auditorium with modern projection facilities and carefully designed acoustic characteristics provides a venue for seminars, large group presentations and special events including students' extra-curricular activities.
Work Shop
A marine officer operating in the self contained environment of a ship at sea must be capable of effectively using the tools available onboard to accomplish the maintenance, repair and operational demands of the job. To impart this competency, our Engineering program rely heavily on practical training, conducted at the custom built and equipped workshop. Students are given hands-on training in the proper use of tools, safe practices, equipment characteristics as well as repair and maintenance procedures under the supervision and guidance of the experienced faculty.
