Velammal Engineering College, [VEC] Chennai was established in the year 1995-1996 and it is run by Velammal Educational Trust. It is affiliated to Anna University. The college has approval from All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE] and also an ISO certified institution. The college also has accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation [NBA] and National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC].

The college provides education in the fields of Engineering and Management. The mission of the college is educating students both theoretically and practically. The college offers an undergraduate and postgraduate course in engineering and a Master of Business Administration [MBA]. Velammal Engineering College admission is based on the past academic merit score and qualifying examinations

The Velammal Educational Trust is a registered non-minority service organization established in the year 1986 by Thiru. M.V. Muthuramalingam to inculcate among the youth a sense of discipline which is important to mold them into useful and capable citizens.
