So per annum comes out to be Rs. 22,000 approx.
A number of scholarship options are available most of which have a ceiling for parental income. Scholarships range from Rs. 10,000 per annum to Rs. 37,000 per annum throughout the tenure of study.
A scholarship called ' Medhabruti ' by Govt. of Odisha is availed by almost all the students with parental annual income below Rs. 6 lakhs.
For girl students, no income limit is there.
For students of reserved caste, and, even more, a number of scholarships are available.
Loans may be needed to meet personal expenses. But these can be very easily availed from any bank of your choice with great convenience as banks are always ready to provide a scholarship to medical students.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
Eligibility criteria for joining the Sri Ram Chandra Bhanj Medical College and Hospital, [SRCBMCAH] Cuttack is passed 12th or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% marks in physics, chemistry, and biology along with English as a core subject.
For reserved categories minimum of 40% in the aforesaid exam is required.
Admission procedure for studying in this college first of all one must appear and qualify in the exam called AIPMT which is conducted by CBSE once every year in the month of May (most probably in the 1st week).
Registration for the aforesaid exam starts in December. The exam is a very competitive one as 7- 8 lakhs of students all over India struggle for just 4000-5000 seats.
Strong preparations at least 1 year prior to the exam is essential.
In order to get into my college minimum of 75% marks needs to be scored by general candidates so that the AIR is within 4000. This is the only exam at present to get into my college.
Placements & Internships :
After completion of 5 years of study, the internship has to be done in the Sri Ram Chandra Bhanj Medical College and Hospital for a period of 1 year in order to become a registered medical practitioner.
During 1 year internship a stipend of Rs. 15,000 is available.
After completion, of course, one becomes a doctor and can undertake private practice or apply for jobs in govt.
Placement is usually 100 % and salary usually varies from Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000 per month at the beginning.
Academics & Faculty :
Classes in Sri Ram Chandra Bhanj Medical College and Hospital start at 09:00 am and continue till 05:00 pm with a 1-hour lunch break from 01:00 to 02:00.
Classes consist of theory, practicals, field visits and wards.
Records need to be completed and submitted at regular intervals.
There are 2-semester exams in a year ( 1st and in 2nd year) and 4 professional exams ( 1 each year except 2nd year ).
The semesters act as internal assessment. The professional exams carry utmost importance and decide your academic career.
The method of teaching in theory classes is a 2-way method. Classes are very interactive. Practical classes are very informative. Field trips give plenty of exposure to society.
The quality of teaching is excellent as our teachers are efficient doctors themselves with ample experience in their respective fields.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
For girls, there are 4 hostels and for boys, there are 3 hostels in Sri Ram Chandra Bhanj Medical College and Hospital.
The hostels are large and spacious with playgrounds, garden, and canteens. These are provided with clean well-furnished bathrooms and latrines which are proportional to the number of rooms.
The hostel fee is Rs. 5,000 per annum which is very minimal.
Food charges are separate.
Staying outside a college campus in PG 's is not recommended either required. It is not convenient even. All students are accommodated in the hostel itself.
There is 5 mess inside the hostel which provides food cooked in a clean and hygienic environment.
Per meal costs around Rs. 35 -40 at lunch, Rs. 20 -35 for dinner and Rs. 10 -20 for breakfast and evening snacks.
The classroom has power point method of teaching. These are very spacious and are centrally air conditioned and well ventilated.
Labs are equipped with the latest equipment. Libraries have books of latest edition and in sufficient quantities.
Wifi is not yet implemented in the campus but is soon going to be implemented.
Clubs & Associations :
The most pioneer society in Sri Ram Chandra Bhanj Medical College and Hospital is the students union which has a number of departments under it including the journal society, academic society, cultural society, drama society, sports department, fine arts society, SSG etc. Members being students of the pre-final year.
There is also a quiz club which keeps students continuously stimulated with recent events across the world.
Along with academics, students of our college are by no means lesser in fields of fashion, cultural activities, feasts etc.
There are hostel functions, UG functions, HS functions, intermedia's functions round the year.
There is an annual sports competition every year.
The college also hosts national level medical conferences now and then.
Clinical and nonclinical paper presentation competitions prepare the students for future challenges.
Life in college is very thrilling and full of adventure and opportunities.
