Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University was established with the objective of facilitating sustainable growth and development of livestock and allied sectors by building competent human resources for generating and developing cost-effective and easily-adoptable technologies. The University wants to strengthen the education by providing quality methods of teaching in the field of Veterinary Sciences, Dairy Technology and Fishery Sciences.

The University aims to spread the knowledge of Sciences to the rural people of Andhra Pradesh. The University wants to strengthen the backbone of the state in farming and natural resource planning. The students of the University benefit from the highly experienced faculty. The current strength of the faculty is 342.

The University regularly undertakes research projects from All India Co-Ordinated Research Projects (AICRP) and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY). • Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University Application Process begins with the notification in newspapers/ website.
• The selection of candidates for UG programs will be based on the ranks obtained by them in the AP EAMCET.
• The selection of the candidates for PG programs shall be based on the previous academic record (30%) of the relevant bachelor's degree and on performance in PG Entrance test (70%).
• 85% of the seats for doctoral programs are reserved for students of Andhra Pradesh.
• 15% of the seats for doctoral programs are open for candidates of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and the other states if they appear for Entrance Test conducted by SVVU.
• The qualifying marks in the entrance test are 50%. 
• There are no qualifying marks for SC/ST/PH candidates.
