Overview

Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) offers UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs across three faculties, with the Ph.D. exclusively in Veterinary Sciences. The B.V.Sc & A.H curriculum follows the VCI-prescribed pattern, updated in 2008 and 2016. The UG curriculum for B.F.Sc and B.Tech (Dairy Technology) follows the IV Dean’s Committee of ICAR's guidelines from the 2008-09 academic year.

SVVU also offers a two-year Diploma in Animal Husbandry and Fishery Science for rural youth with a 10th-grade qualification. PG programs include M.V.Sc in 18 disciplines, M.F.Sc in 4 disciplines of Fishery Science, and M.Tech in 2 disciplines of Dairy Science (Dairy Technology and Dairy Microbiology). Ph.D. is offered in 16 Veterinary Science disciplines at the Tirupati and Gannavaram campuses.

Under ICAR Development Grants (₹936 lakhs from ICAR, New Delhi), modernization projects such as improved internet connectivity, upgraded classrooms, and enhanced UG/PG labs were implemented. Additionally, hands-on training labs for milk processing were established at a cost of ₹153 lakhs under the Experiential Learning Programme.

SVVU promotes entrepreneurship and skill development by allocating ₹1 lakh revolving funds for programs like livestock rearing, dairy production, feed production, and value-added meat and fish product development.

The Common Academic Regulations and Course Curricula for PG studies in Agriculture and Allied Sciences were implemented from the 2010-11 academic year with revisions approved by the 7th and 20th Academic Council Meetings.
