      What is Ragging?

      Ragging includes any of the following:

• Offensive remarks, rudeness, or harassment by words or actions.
• Acts causing physical/psychological harm, fear, or shame.
• Disrupting academic activities or preventing a fresher’s adjustment.
• Exploitation, extortion, or financial burden caused to any student.
• Physical abuse, sexual assault, lewd acts, or acts intended to harm mental well-being.

     SRM has implemented an Anti-Ragging Committee to address and monitor such incidents.

     UGC Actions Against Ragging

      Actions include but are not limited to:

• Cancellation of admission.
• Suspension from classes, examinations, or academic benefits.
• Withholding of scholarship or academic evaluation results.
• Expulsion from the hostel or institution for 1-4 semesters.
• A fine of ₹25,000.
• Collective punishment if perpetrators cannot be identified.

Every incident must be reported to local police authorities and addressed immediately by the Anti-Ragging Committee.
