St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli is an autonomous, co-ed college which was established in the year 1844, in the state of Tamil Nadu. Previously, it was affiliated to Madras University. Currently, it is affiliated to Bharathidasan University. It is the only college awarded with the Heritage Status by UGC in Tamil Nadu. The St. Joseph’s College, Trichy  offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Students from 5 countries and 21 states study at SJC. The teacher-student ratio is 1:23. The notable alumni of the college are Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam ( former president of India),  Mr Shiv Nadar (founder and chairperson of HCL), Prof. G.N. Ramachandran (renowned Physicist), etc to name a few.

The St. Joseph’s College, Trichy  has a fine arts association that provides students an opportunity to showcase their talents. It organizes various Literary, Music, Dance, Painting Photography, and Painting events. The College has an astronomy club to impart knowledge about astronomy and its importance to the students. It also has a bibliophile club, communication club, and film appreciation club. In order to instill leadership qualities and to make the students more aware of the society, the St. Joseph’s College, Trichy  organizes various NSS activities.

The SJC, Trichy also offers a Transfer Program wherein the students taking up Humanities, Social Sciences or Business can study the first four semesters at St Joseph's Trichy Campus and the remaining three semesters at Concordia College, New York to get an American undergraduate degree. The college is also a CA coaching center that is accredited by ICAI (Institute of Charted Accountant of India). Coaching is provided to interested B.Com and BBA students by professors at St. Joseph's at a nominal fee.

SJCTNI Hostel Facilities:

St Joseph's College facilities include state of the art hostel for both girls and boys. The hostel will be provided only after the students gets admission into any of the courses provided by the college and after an interview with the Director. The parent needs to be present at the time of admission. The hostel details are as mentioned below.

• The College has 5 boys hostel and 1 girls hostel.
• The girl's hostel was incorporated in the year 2012.
• It is partially funded by the UGC.
• The Bellarmine hostel is provided to the M.Phil and Self Financing course students.
• The hostel provides 65 rooms which can accommodate 150 people, including single and double sharing. This hostel also provides a reading room, TV cum music room, volleyball court, etc.
• The Clive house offers hostel facilities to Jesuit Scholastics who are pursuing their UG and PG courses at SJC.
• Sacred Heart Hostel of the college has 132 rooms (Single and Double Sharing) which can accommodate 518 students. It has two blocks, two Messes, two Dining halls, and a modern Kitchen.
• The 'New Hostel' which was founded in 1939, has 310 rooms (Single, Double & Triple) which can accommodate 810 students. The visitor's room, volleyball court, Basketball court, Music room, reading room, prayer hall, TV room, etc are some of the facilities offered by this hostel.
