I've undergone two internships in the past, for which the stipend amounted to 2000-2500, subject to increase in case of continuation. Placements are often offered by corporate law firms and other companies like Digit Insurance Inc, Sun TV Network, V Legal Empire Bajaj, etc., who hire students from this college, out of which 15-20% of the students get placed. The average salary offered usually lies between a range of 3-5 lakh p.a. There is no specific alumni network as such.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
Admission to this college is purely based on a 12th-grade score. The eligibility criteria are merit-based on12th grade marks. The typical cut-offs are above 90%, and further differ based on the courses one chooses.
Fees & Scholarships :
Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 75000 per year. The scholarship options are generally available to disabled students, OBC/SC/ST's and first graduate students. The students usually face no such constraints regarding the amount to be paid as fees, thus requiring no loans.
Academics & Faculty :
There are two semesters per year and two mid-semesters. The class timings are usually 4 hrs only, where the timings for the morning batch is 9:30-1:20 am and that of the evening batch is 2:00-5:20 pm, making it flexible for the students to intern during the other half of the day. Assignments/projects are subject-based, submissions of which are usually preceding the respective semesters. The quality and method of teaching are overall good but preferably better for law alone and not the other integrated courses. The overall experience for the college is good, absolutely beneficial for students pursuing law.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
There are two hostels for boys and girls, respectively, which amount to around 4,500 per month. The cost of PG's outside usually ranges from 5,000-12,000 per month. The food in college is average, not having a vast range variety but is decent with very minimal charges. The quality of the overall infrastructure is good, having all relevant facilities and amenities for the students with air-conditioned classrooms having projectors, with well-equipped libraries inclusive of an e-library well equipped for all needs of the students, fine auditoriums etc.
Clubs & Associations :
Various student associations and clubs range from the Moot court associated with the finest members, AIR, MUN, ECA for cultural, sports clubs etc. the main events in the campus are during the Pongal celebrations, which is usually marked as the ethnic day, and cultural events take place during April which usually lasts for three days. College life is very ordinary, like any other college.
