University Institute of Information Technology is a leading government institute of Northern India started in September 2000. It was started through the orders of the Executive Council of Himachal Pradesh University initially with a batch of 60 students. UIIT is a leading self-financed government institute of North India and offers an excellent learning environment with a unique blend of distinguished faculty, brilliant students and strong IT industry collaborations.

The UIIT is well known for its academic achievements and its valuable contributions for enhancing the student's career by providing quality knowledge and technical skills that help them to create a valuable position in the competitive world. The students achieve new heights in their professional as well as personal lives as the university provides the students with an enriching and life-defining experiences during their tenure at the university.

UIIT is one of the foremost affiliating-cum-residential universities in India. The University has 12 faculties out of which nine are based within the campus along with 29 departments and more than 18 specialized centres. More highlights about the university are mentioned below.

UIIT Admission offers Bachelors of Technology in Engineering in multiple specialisations. University Institute of Information Technology Courses:

UIIT offers Bachelors of Technology Program in multiple specialisations. The various specialisations offered under the program is mentioned below.

UIIT B.Tech:

University Institute of Information Technology, Shimla offers Bachelors of Technology Course in Information Technology, Computer Science, Civil, Electrical and Electronics & Communication Engineering. It is a full time course for a duration of 4 years divided into 8 semesters. The University also offers Lateral Entry of Candidates, i.e Admissions directly into the 2nd year. The University believes in building engineers rather than just producing them.

UIIT Fees:

UIIT offers Undergraduate Program in Bachelor of Technology in multiple specialisations. The Tuition Fees for the B.Tech Program of 4 years is INR 3,60,000.

UIIT Scholarships:

UIIT offers merit scholarships to the students in every year of the course. All the scholarships are for a duration of one full academic year. In the first year, the UIIT Scholarship is offered for a duration of one full academic year on the basis of a student's 10+2 examination results. The Second year scholarship is offered based on a student's first year result ( Semester 1 and 2 together).

The Scholarship for the third year is offered based on a student's result of both 1st and 2nd year taken together. The fourth year scholarship is offered by putting together a student's 1st, 2nd and 3rd year results.

UIIT Facilities:

University Institute of Information Technology campus is spread across an area of over 200 acres. The campus has majestic buildings complemented by silver oak, pine and deodar trees offering amiable atmosphere for higher studies and research. Some of the UIIT Facilities offered by the university is - The Institute has a Library exclusively for the use of students and faculty of UIIT.

The Labs are LAN connected with licensed software packages related to latest global techniques. The Library provides a good reading space for the students. It has a good collection of about 3523 books related to Information Technology and allied areas. 

The University has a Health Center that provides round the clock medical facilities to the students, employees and their dependents. They also have a Clinical Laboratory for routine tests. Cafeteria provides healthy and perfect meals everyday. The University also has a guest house with 27 suites. They also have a dormitory for the staff accompanying guests.

• The University was awarded a Centre with Potential for Excellence in Himaloyan Studies by UGC in the year 2002.

UIIT Eligibility Criteria :

UIIT Shimla has set eligibility criteria for the course it offers, in order to assess the suitability of a student for the preferred course. The eligibility criteria set for the course is mentioned below.

UIIT Admissions :

The UIIT conducts a Common Entrance Examination by Himachal Pradesh University [UIIT HPU CET] for admission to all the courses. There will be a separate merit list for the Himachal candidates [passing 10+2 in schools from Himachal Pradesh] and All India Candidates.

The counseling is conducted and admissions are done on the basis of merit in the common entrance exam and the candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria. Final merit and allotment of seats in different courses will be decided only for those candidates who appear for counselling in person as per the counselling schedule.
