Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, headquartered at Pundibari in Cooch Behar, began operations on February 1, 2001. Established after the bifurcation of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, it aims to promote agricultural development, education, research, and extension services across the eight northern districts of West Bengal. The university offers undergraduate degree programs in Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agricultural Engineering, along with postgraduate programs in various disciplines under the Agriculture and Horticulture faculties. It has implemented the IVth Deans’ Committee Recommendations for UG and PG courses and adopted the Vth Deans’ Committee Recommendations for degree programs starting in the 2016-17 academic year. Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya actively fosters collaborations with Indian and international organizations to enhance teaching and research capabilities.

Eligibility for Admission to Undergraduate Degree Programmes:

• Academic Qualification: Candidates must have completed their Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with a minimum aggregate of 60% for the General category.
• For SC/ST/PWD candidates, the minimum aggregate required is 50%.
• Admission Process: Admissions are based on merit.
• Reservation Criteria:
• Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD categories, as per the State Government's rules.
• Additional reservations are also provided for students from the WB Vocational Stream, CBSE, ICSE, and other boards, as well as for Hill students from Darjeeling district and candidates under the ICAR Quota.

Eligibility for Admission to Postgraduate Degree Programme:

• Academic Requirements:
• Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from a recognized university.
• A minimum OGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale and at least 60% marks in the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination are required.
• For SC/ST/PWD candidates, the minimum OGPA is 6.00, and the minimum marks requirement is 50% in Higher Secondary or equivalent examination.
• Candidates who have completed their Bachelor's Degree with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) under the traditional system are also eligible to apply.

Eligibility for Admission to Ph.D. Programme:

• The candidate must have a Master’s Degree in Agriculture with a minimum OGPA of 7.00 (or 6.5 for SC, ST, and PWD candidates) from a recognized Indian or foreign university.
• The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture following the 10+2+4, 10+1+4, or 11+4 pattern.
• The candidate should have at least one year of Dissertation experience from a recognized University or Institute.
• The candidate should have demonstrated consistent academic excellence throughout their academic career.
