Vikrama Simhapuri University, located in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, was established to meet the long-held aspirations of the people of SPS Nellore District. Officially formed by the Andhra Pradesh Legislature, the university’s creation was published in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette on September 24, 2008. The university occupies an 83.33-acre campus situated 10 km from the main town of Nellore, along National Highway No. 5.

In 2010, the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized the degrees awarded by the university under Section 22 of the UGC Act and later granted it 2(f) and 12(b) status. The university also gained membership in the Association of Commonwealth Universities, joining a select group of 500 global institutions. This membership allows Vikrama Simhapuri University to actively participate in international academic initiatives.

The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs through affiliated colleges in SPS Nellore District, along with dedicated men’s and women’s hostels equipped with necessary facilities. Two buses provide transportation between the town and the campus.
