More Than 30% JEE Main 2023 Registered Candidates are Females: Count of Females Highest Ever
The JEE main 2023 exam commenced today, Jan 24. According to the official figure, more than 30% of applicants are female for this year's engineering entrance examination.
JEE Main 2023: NTA authorities are conducting JEE main 2023 exam for admission to BTech, BE, BArch, and BPlanning programmes offered by various institutes/colleges/universities across the country. The JEE main 2023 is scheduled for Jan 24, 25, 28 (2nd shift only), 29, 30, 31, and Feb 1. Per the official report, over 8.6 lakh candidates have registered for the JEE Main session 1. Out of which, 2.6 lakh registered candidates are females.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted twice a year in CBT mode. The JEE main is a three-hour-long exam conducted in 13 different languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

JEE Main 2023 - Registration Statistics
JEE is a highly competitive examination; every year, around 10-12 lakh candidates register for the exam. Accordingly, over 8.6 lakh candidates registered for the first session of JEE main 2023. However, for the first time, around 30% of applicants among 8.6 lakhs were female. The female applicant number has significantly risen from the last year as around 2.5 lakh applicants registered for the JEE main 2022. However, for this year, around 2.6 lakh applicants were female.
Maharashtra has the largest percentage of around 12% (1,03,039) of all JEE Main 2023 first session registrations. Followed by Uttar Pradesh with 11.6% (99,714) and Andhra Pradesh with 10.6% (91,799). In addition, two other states—Telangana and Rajasthan—recorded more than 50,000 registrations for the JEE Main January session of 2023, with respective totals of 86,840 and 59,641. Delhi is leading among the cities with 36,530 registrations, followed by Hyderabad/Secunderabad (32,246) and Kota (24,253).
