The NEO Educational Foundation has divided the National Engineering Olympiad into two rounds. Round 1 tends to measure the basic aptitude ability, and round 2 is a technical ability test. Both rounds will be conducted online.
Brief detail about both the olympiad is given below.
- NEO Olympiad Round 1 - This round of the National Engineering Olympiad test the student's basic aptitude ability. NEO Olympiad round 1 exam consists of a total of 3 sections; quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and visual reasoning.
- NEO Olympiad Round 2 - This round of the National Engineering Olympiad checks the student's technical ability.
National Engineering Olympiad 6.0 Registration
NEO Foundation has announced the NEO 6.0 on their official website, and all eligible students can start applying for the NEO. The National Engineering Olympiad is conducted in a completely online mode. All the willing participants have to register through the NEO Olympiad official website.
Steps to do the NEO Olympiad registration are given below.
- Visit the NEO Olympiad official website.
- On the top right corner, click on the 'Register' written in the orange color box.
- Students have to provide their mobile numbers before filling out the NEO application form. Candidates will receive an OTP on their registered mobile number.
- After the successful verification, students have to fill in all the required details about themselves. All the details must be filled in correctly as the same details will be printed on the student's scorecard and details.
- After the successful registration and payment, the student will receive a National Engineering Olympiad login ID and password, which can be used further to give the NEO Olympiad exam and receive notifications related to the exam.
Note: Students do not have to do a separate registration for the NEO Olympiad round 2.
National Engineering Olympiad Eligibility Criteria
NEO Foundation's primary focus is on engineering students. Thus the NEO Foundation has made a few eligibility criteria that every student has to fulfill to appear for the NEO Olympiad examination.
A list of the eligibility criteria for the NEO Olympiad exam is given below.
- All the students studying engineering from an accredited college across India can appear for the NEO Olympiad exam.
- Candidates from an engineering background can appear for the exam, but they will not receive any rewards.
- Only the students studying in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of engineering are eligible for the NEO Olympiad exam.
National Engineering Olympiad Fee Structure
Every student has to pay a registration fee of INR 250 each to the NEO Foundation. Without the payment of the registration fee, the student's application will be considered incomplete and later can be declined by the authority. The fee paid for the NEO Olympiad registration is entirely non-refundable.

Keys Changes in National Engineering Olympiad 2024
Students who are pursuing graduation or post-graduation in India are eligible to write this Olympiad. Due to the prevailing pandemic situation, the National Engineering Olympiad this year will be conducted online and students can write it from their homes. There are a total of two rounds and round 1 consists of two phases. The students only need to attend any one of the phases in round 1. If candidates qualify to round 1 exam, they will be able to appear for the round 2 exams.
