The Azim Premji fellowship invites working professionals from 35 years to teach in government schools in rural India. Candidates of any discipline with a graduate degree can apply for the one-year Azim Premji fellowship program. The selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of INR 35,000. In addition, the foundation offers additional benefits such as housing allowance and insurances. The Azim Premji fellowship has been implemented by the Azim Premji Foundation to provide an opportunity for young working professionals to engage in public well-being.
The Azim Premji foundation fellowship program is a one-year program. However, the organisers will extend the fellowship based on the candidate's performance and interest. More than 80 per cent of the fellows from the previous batches have decided to continue their working practice with the foundation. Young candidates below 35 years with a degree in any discipline can participate in the Azim Premji university fellowship program. The candidates can apply online through the official Azim Premji university fellowship portal. The organisers will select the applicants after five stages. The stages are as follows:

Azim Premji Fellowship Eligibility Criteria
The Azim Premji fellowship 2023 is dedicated o improve the conditions of education in India. Candidates with a zest to contribute to society can participate in the fellowship. Listed below are the Azim Premji fellowship eligibility criteria:
- The applicants must be below 35 years of age.
- They should be proficient in the English language.
- The candidates should hold an undergraduate degree in any stream to apply to the Azim Premji foundation fellowship 2023 program.
- They should have work experience of 4 to 10 years.
- The applicant must be proficient in any one of the following regional languages.
- Hindi
- Tamil
- Telugu
- Kannada
- The candidates should be willing to travel and work anywhere in the district they are assigned to.
Note: The applicants don't need to have experience in the social sector. The Azim Premji fellowship program requires candidates with a deep commitment to change society and contribute at the root level.
Azim Premji Fellowship Rewards and Benefits
Besides the opportunity to teach young talented minds, the Azim Premji fellowship also offers a consolidated salary every month and other benefits. The Azim Premji fellowship is for a tenure of one year, and however, they can extend the tenure if they wish to serve longer. The details of the Azim Premji foundation fellowship amount and benefits are as follows:
- The selected candidates will receive the Azim Premji fellowship salary of INR 35,000. However, the amount is subject to statutory deductions and taxes applicable under this scheme.
- The foundation will cover the fellows' health insurance, life insurance, and accident insurance.
- Housing deposit assistance and relocation allowances will be granted. This allowance is disbursed as per the organisational policy.
- Fellows can continue working with the foundation after the one-year program based on their performance and interest.
- Fellows will receive a certificate upon the one-year successful completion of the program.
- The organisers will provide one week of accommodation for each candidate once they move to the block location.
Azim Premji Fellowship Application Process
The candidates should ensure they meet all the requirements before applying for the Azim Premji fellowship 2023. The eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official portal. The candidates should duly fill in the application form, attach the necessary documents, including an updated resume and submit them to complete the application process. The steps to apply for the Azim Premji fellowship 2023 are as follows:

- Next, the candidates should duly fill in the form.
- They should upload their updated CV.
- Additionally, the candidates should provide a convenient date and location for the written test.
- Note: The written test will be based on the Azim Premji foundation fellowship exam syllabus prepared by the organisers.
- Click on the submit button.
- Note: Candidates will receive an e-mail regarding the status of their application within three weeks from submitting the Azim Premji fellowship application form.
Selection Process for Azim Premji Fellowship
The Azim Premji fellowship involves five stages of selection. The applicants will go through different stages under the fellowship selection process, including a written test and a personal interview. Given below are details of the Azim Premji fellowship selection process:
Step 1: Online Application
- Eligible candidates are required to complete the Azim Premji fellowship application form.
- Once the application form is submitted, candidates will receive a reference number.
- They should make a note of the reference number for further communication.
Step 2: Screening
- The candidate will have to fill up a detailed application form if the application is shortlisted at the first stage.
- Once the detailed application is received, the selection panel will evaluate it.
- Shortlisted applicants will be called for a written test.
Note: The organisers will notify the applicants if their applications are not shortlisted.
Step 3: Written Test
- Selected applicants will receive an admit card for the written test.
- The candidate will be scheduled for examination based on the test centre and the date preferred by them.
- The Azim Premi fellowship management may use discretion subjected to logistical reasons.
- It is compulsory to carry an admit card copy and valid government ID proof.
- After the written test, the selected applicants should produce a Statement of Purpose (SOP).
- The organisers will send an e-mail requesting the SOP with a deadline.
- The written test will cover geographical awareness, socio-economic issues, descriptive writing, reading comprehension, and analytical ability.
- There will be descriptive and multiple-choice questions with a test duration of 120 minutes.
Step 4: Presentation and Interviews
- After completing the written test and submitting the SOP, the applicant shall be called for an interview.
- During the interview, the candidate should make a presentation of 10 to15-minute to the panel.
- The presentation can be on any social issue that concerns the individual.
- Candidates can use PPT/ chart paper or any other medium to make the presentation.
- The shortlisted applicant will go to the final interview round.
Step 5: Final Announcement and Offer
- After completing the final round of interviews, the organisers will announce the selected fellows within 15 days.
- The organisers will communicate the result via e-mail.
- The offer process will take two more weeks after the final list announcement.
- After completing the process, fellows shall receive the Azim Premji fellowship offer letter soft copy (sent to their e-mail). The students should submit hard copies of the documents at the time of joining.
Note: Applicants are requested to provide a valid phone number and e-mail ID while applying for the Azim Premji fellowship. Additionally, the applicants should periodically check their e-mails for any updates.
After Azim Premji Foundation Fellowship Program
Listed below are opportunities available for the candidates after completing the Azim Ji Premji foundation fellowship program:
- Candidates can continue working with the foundation even after the fellowship program.
- More than 80 per cent of fellows are decided to stay back and work with the foundation from previous batches.
- The candidates will be placed in one of the districts eligible under the Azim Premji fellowship foundation program.
- Many others are still working for non-profit organisations while pursuing a corporate career.
Terms and Conditions for Azim Premji Fellowship
The terms and conditions of the Azim Premji fellowship are as follows:
- If a candidate wishes to discontinue the fellowship within one year, they can leave the program after serving one month notice period.
- Fellows will get 15 days of leave per year and 1.25 days per month.
- The organisers will conduct the induction program for one week. Also, a mentor will be assigned to each candidate to support and guide them throughout the Azim Premji fellowship program.
- The work location for the fellowship program in Azim Premji Foundation will be in one of the following states or UT (Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Puducherry).
- The candidates who clear the Azim Premji foundation fellowship programme written test questions and the personal interview can move to the final stage.
