Snehapoorvam Scholarship

The Snehapoorvam scholarship, run by the social security mission of Kerala, offers financial aid to students who have lost one or both of their parents. The Snehapoorvam scholarship provides financial security and uplifts the lives of students going through an insurmountable loss. The state government of Kerala offers the Snehapoorvam scholarship to the natives of Kerala under five years to bachelor’s degree level. Objective of Snehapoorvam Scholarship

There are over 1,500 orphanages in Kerala, and around 75,000 children under 18 years living in orphanages. The statistics reveal that 80% to 90% of orphanage children have extended families. Most orphanage children have no access to proper shelter and nutritious food. The State government of Kerala launched the Snehapoorvam scholarship through the social security mission of Kerala to provide financial support to abandoned orphans and children. However, they should live with their families, relatives, or friends to accept the Snehapoorvam scholarship. 

Eligibility Criteria for Snehapoorvam Scholarship

The Snehapoorvam scholarship Kerala scheme is exclusively available to the natives of Kerala. Children who have lost either or both of their parents can apply to the scholarship. The details of Snehapoorvam scholarship eligibility criteria are as follows:

• The candidates should be domiciles of Kerala.
• Either one or both of the child’s parents should have passed away.
• They should belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
• The family income of those belonging to the Above Poverty Line (APL) category should not exceed INR 20,000 per annum in rural areas and INR 22,375 for those in the urban areas.
• Children below five years old can apply to the Snehapoorvam scholarship scheme. 
• Snehapoorvam scholarship 2021 is available to students from class I to the undergraduate degree level. 
• The students above five years should have enrolled in government or government-aided schools or colleges.

The State government of Kerala aims to bring the affected children to the mainstream of society and better their lives by offering them the reward. How to Apply for the Snehapoorvam Scholarship?

The parent/guardians of the children below the age of five can directly apply for the Snehapoorvam scholarship by submitting the application form to the Executive Director of the Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM) through the respective child welfare committees. Whereas, the students from class I should submit their application form to the head of their institution, who will send it to the Executive Director of the Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM) after verification. Given below are the stepwise process to apply for the snehapoorvam scholarship 2023.

Step 1: The candidates should visit the official Snehapoorvam scholarship website.

Step 2: They should click on the application forms tab available on the dashboard.

Step 3: Next, they should click on the respective Snehapoorvam scholarship application form.

Note: The parent/ guardians or candidates can find the Snehapoorvam scholarship application forms for children below and above five years on the website.

Step 4: The applicants should click on the view button and download the Snehapoorvam scholarship online application form.

Step 5: They should duly fill in the snehapoorvam scholarship form with the correct Snehapoorvam scholarship details.

For Children Below Five Years

Step 6: The parent or the guardian should submit the Snehapoorvam scholarship online application directly to the Executive Director of KSSM.

For Children Above Five Years

Step 6: After filling in the snehapoorvam scholarship form, the candidates should submit it along with the requisite documents to the head of the aided/ government institutions by October 31st every year. 

Step 7: The head of the candidate’s school or college will verify the documents and submit them to the Executive Director of Kerala Social Security Mission through the official portal. 

Essential Documents for Snehapoorvam Scholarship

The candidates should submit the required documents along with the Snehapoorvam application form. They should ensure the documents contain factual information. The head of the institution will further verify these documents before submitting them to the Executive Director of KSSM. • Domicile certificate 
• Death certificate of the parent(s)
• BPL certificate
• Ration card (for children from the BPL category)
• Family income certificate (for candidates belonging to the APL category)
• Marksheets 
• The applicant’s aadhaar card or aadhaar slip obtained after registration
• A copy of the bank passbook or a cancelled cheque with the bank details 
  • Note: The bank account should be a joint account under the child’s guardian and beneficiary name.
