Steps to Convert Percentage to CGPA in KTU
Initially, the AKTU results are provided as percentages, leaving students confused about their performance. However, the conversion of percentage marks in KTU GPA can allow them to know better about the marks acquired.
The university allots a CGPA to the student's overall performance at the end of each semester for all the subjects included in the course. The grade points range between 0 to 10, against which the letter grade is assigned.

Kerala Technical University Evaluation Process
Kerala Technical University's evaluation process is similar to that of any other engineering college. There are two types of evaluation systems:
Internal Assessment
An Internal Assessment at KTU includes a Theoretical Internal Assessment and a Practical Internal Assessment.
The Theoretical Internal Assessment is conducted for a maximum of 50 marks. It is further sub-divided into:
- i) Two 1 hour tests with a maximum of 20 marks each.
- ii) A mini-project or assignment for 10 marks.
Which makes a total of 50 marks.
The Practical Internal Assessment at KTU includes assessment of a comprehensive examination, performance in seminars, design projects and final semester projects. This Practical Internal Assessment is conducted for a maximum of 100 marks. The assessment goes as follows:
- Practical record with outputs - 60 marks
- Regular class viva - 10 marks
- Final Practical Examination - 30 marks
Semester Examination
The semester exam at KTU is based on the following assessment types:
1. Comprehensive Examination
The comprehensive examination usually happens in the 6th semester of a student's course term. It is further divided into:
- Level 1: Written Test, a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) with a duration of 1 hour, will be evaluated for a maximum of 50 marks.
- Level 2: Oral Test will be evaluated for 50 marks.
2. Seminar
The seminar is conducted for students to teach their conveying skills on their subject knowledge. The duration of the workshop will be 20 minutes, with a 5-minute question and answer session. The marks will be awarded based on the following criteria;
- Level 1: Report - 30% of the total marks
- Level 2: Presentation - 40% of the total marks
- Level 3: Q&A session - 30% of the total marks
3. Design Project
The design project is a group activity that helps the students understand teamwork and other team management qualities. The design product evaluation has two levels;
- Level 1: Making two design projects each for 20 marks - 40 marks in total
- Level 2: Final evaluation and presentation of the design project - 60 marks in total
4. Final Semester Project
The final semester project starts during the middle 7th semester and continues till the end of the course. The students have to work on their projects individually or in small groups of 4 members. The evaluation process of the final semester project is as follows;
- Level 1: Make two progress reports - 20% of the total marks graded by the project supervisor.
- Level 2: Project Report - 30% of the total marks graded by the Assessment Board.
- Level 3: Project Presentation and Viva - 50% of the total marks graded by the Assessment Board.
