The SSC GD recruitment process consists of 4 stages. The initial stage is a computer-based test known as the SSC GD Exam. Likewise, the exam measures the candidate's capabilities in various subjects. Further, the authorities administer a physical efficiency and standards test over two rounds for the SSC GD selection process. In the end, shortlisted candidates must participate in the medical test to reach the final merit list.

Computer Based Exam
After checking the eligibility requirements for the SSC GD selection process, aspirants must participate in the SC GD Constable online test. The examination mode will be online, and the medium of instruction will be in English and Hindi. Similarly, candidates must prepare for topics on the below subjects.

Physical Standard Test
Candidates of the SSC GD selection process who are shortlisted after the written exam will proceed towards the second stage, called the Physical Standard Test. Subsequently, candidates must adhere to the physical standards set by the authorities. Notably, the benchmark to qualify for the next round is meeting the height, chest and weight eligibility criteria.

Physical Efficiency Test
The Commission will further shortlist candidates based on their performance in the Physical Standard Test and check if these candidates meet the requirements for the Physical Efficiency Test. Hence, the third stage measures male and female aspirants' fortitude, health and shape. The Physical efficiency test is administered through a race. Although, participants must keep the following points in mind before appearing for the PET round of the SSC GD selection process.
- Pregnant female candidates are barred from participation in the SSC GD PET.
- Veterans are excluded from the Physical Efficiency Test round.
- But veterans are required to take the Detailed Medical Examination, the final stage of the SSC GD selection process.

Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
The final stage is for candidates who have qualified in the previous three stages. The last stage of the SSC GD selection process is the Detailed Medical Examination round.
- The medical tests are conducted and performed by a CAPF medical board for all eligible candidates.
- The DME round's parameters are tested on physical and medical fitness grounds. SSC also tests the vision of the participants.
- Importantly, for right-handed aspirants, the right eye is better and vice-versa.
