The National Test Agency (NTA) has released the list of UGC-NET subjects 2024 on its official website. Candidates are expected to pay the registration fee by May 20, 2024. The UGC-NET application editing window closed on May 23, 2024, and the exam was postponed to June 18, 2024.
The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is conducted to assess the eligibility for the positions of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian Universities and Colleges. How to choose the UGC NET Subject 2024?
The candidates must choose the UGC-NET subject based on the subject they pursued during their Master’s degree. If the candidate is not able to find the exact subject in the list of UGC-NET subjects, then they can choose a related subject.
For example:
- A candidate can choose Women’s Studies if they have specialized in Humanities and Social Sciences in their Master’s degree.
- A candidate can choose Population Studies if they have specialized in subjects like Mathematics, Statistics, or Geography as their Master’s Degree.

UGC NET 2024: Exam Pattern
The candidates must check the UGC NET 2024 exam pattern before proceeding with the preparation of the exam. Both papers consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs), which have 50 questions in Paper 1 and 100 questions in Paper 2.
