NIT Eligibility Criteria
To get admitted to top NIT colleges of India, one must clear the JEE Main exam. Admission to NITs participating through Central Seat Allocation Board will be based on the All India Rank. The other conditions that need to be met for admission at the best NIT colleges in India are as follows.
- The candidate should have secured 75% marks in the 12th examination or be in the 20th percentile in the 12th examination conducted by the respective boards.
- Candidates from abroad should have a 6.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale. In case CGPA is awarded at a different scale, then authorities will accept SAT scores. An applicant should have a minimum score of 1440 in SAT subject tests (Mathematics Level 2, Physics, and Chemistry).
- For SC/ST candidates, qualifying marks are 65% in the 12th examination.
- The subject combination required to qualify for B.Tech admission in Physics, Mathematics, and one of the (Chemistry, Biology, Technical Vocational) subjects.
- Apart from securing a good rank, they will have to register for a counseling session conducted by the JoSAA. After the counseling program, students will be granted admission depending on the institute's availability and the student's preferences.
