As per the Chandigarh University grading system any student who is caught using unethical tactics, such as talking to other students, receiving outside assistance, carrying any written materials or a mobile phone inside the exam room, etc., will receive a punishment ranging from the cancellation of one paper to disqualification from any exam for up to two years. A special committee for preventing unfair means (CPUM) is established for this purpose.

- Letter grades will be awarded to the students as indicated below. Each letter grade indicates the level of performance in the course and grade point to compute the SGPA, AGPA, and CGPA.

- E Grade: A student receives an E grade if they have attended 75% of the lectures for the topic but cannot take the end-of-semester test. When the final test for the pertinent semester is presented, the student must take it and pay the exam cost solely. Also, the student can receive a grade based on the results of several internal assessments.
- F Grade: A student receives this grade if they attend 75% of the scheduled lectures for the topic yet receive very poor grades. In this scenario, the student must retake the exam during the semester while merely paying the examination fee.
- I Grade: This grade is given to students who do not meet the criteria of attending 75% of the scheduled lectures for the relevant topic. In this situation, the student must re-register for the course and pay the necessary paper-by-paper cost when it is offered in the relevant semester.
- Rarely, any paper may be provided during the summer semester if four or more students choose to write a paper. During the summer semester, a student may register for a maximum of two Theoretical and one Practical paper.
