What to do After Clearing FMGE? - Step-Wise Instructions
Students need to pursue a one-year internship from any medical college in India after qualifying for FMGE. Here are the steps that one must follow to know all the internship-related details. It will give you clarity on what to do after clearing FMGE.
Step 1
Upon passing the FMGE, students will get a qualifying certificate from the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Then, they will have to apply for temporary registration with the MCI using this certificate. One can visit the official website of MCI to register for the same.
Upon the completion of the registration process, students will receive an acknowledgement number. This number can be used by the students to track their application status.
Step 2
The next step requires candidates to register with the respective State Medical Council. They need to submit the following documents for successful registration.
- FMGE mark sheet photocopy
- Provisional MBBS pass certificate and mark sheet
- Photocopy of the tracking number given by MCI
- A demand draft in the State Medical Council's favour.
- An affidavit on a non-judicial stamp paper stating that you cleared FMGE and obtained the tracking number.
Step 3
Before starting the internship, one must submit a NOC (No Objection Certificate) granted by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME). In order to obtain a NOC, one must put together all the required documents and send a letter detailing all the courses completed to the DME.
Step 4
Based on the NOC provided by the DME, candidates then have to apply for a NOC from the following authorities:
- Superintendent of the respective hospital
- the Principal of the respective institute
- The Registrar of the university where the internship will take place
Step 5
Submit all the letters, along with a demand draft, in favour of the university where you plan to pursue the internship. Make sure to furnish all these documents before you start the internship at the respective hospital.
Step 6
The last step includes the submission of 3 fresh demand drafts and all the necessary documents by the candidates in order to apply for an internship in an MCI-recognised hospital.

Career Options after Clearing FMGE 2024
One career path is to clear FMGE after completing an MBBS program abroad and pursuing clinical practice in India.
