WB GNM 2024

Applicants for admission to the West Bengal GNM programme will be shortlisted this year following an entrance exam and a counselling procedure. The GNM programme lasts three and a half years. The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) programme is a two-year diploma course.

Until last year, the West Bengal Health & Family Welfare Department served as the regulating authority, with admittance based on previous test performance. WBJEEB has taken over and will administer the admission exam to stimulate enrollment in the West Bengal GNM Nursing program for the 2024-25 season. There are 2817 seats, 2692 of which are for female candidates and 125 for male candidates.

WB ANM 2024

This year, applicants for admission to the WB ANM programs will be chosen based on an entrance exam and a counselling process. The ANM (R) course lasts two years. The Auxillary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM) program is a diploma-level study. Until last year, the West Bengal Health & Family Welfare Department was in charge of organizing the exams, and admissions will be provided depending on the merit of the students who passed the previous exam.

Since the WB ANM 2024 session, WBJEEB has taken over and will organize the entrance test to allow admission to the West Bengal ANM Nursing course. A total of 500 (263 restricted and 237 unreserved) seats are available for ANM courses at West Bengal nursing colleges.

The organising body and the Indian Nursing Council (INC) established the eligibility conditions for the West Bengal GNM Nursing program. The prerequisites are as follows:

• Candidates must have finished class 12 from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other recognized Council/Board with a minimum of 40% aggregate.
• As of Dec 31, 2024, the candidate should be at least 17 and no more than 27 years old.
• The candidate must be an Indian national and a permanent resident of the West Bengal District.
• The candidate must be fluent in Bengali or Nepali and able to read, write, and speak the language.
• Students pursuing Vocational Agriculture or Vocational Home Science can also apply.

 The West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board selects students for the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course based on their performance and common entrance exam scores. A merit list was created and released using the top four subjects in response to the entrance exam results.

WB ANM & GNM 2024 Exam Pattern

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board will conduct the WB GNM 2024 exam. The exam contained sixty-five (65) questions, all of which were multiple-choice (MCQ) with four options.

• The exam will take 1 hour and 30 minutes to finish the paper. Except for the English and logical thinking parts, all the questions were in English and Bengali.
• WBJEEB ANM and GNM entrance exams will consist of five sections with 100 questions.
• Each section will contain two categories. Category 1 will have 85 questions worth one mark each, while Category 2 will have 15 questions worth two marks each.

One-fourth of the answer will be deducted for each wrong answer in category 1. The exam will last 1 hour and 30 minutes. The table below shows the distribution of marks according to subject.
