The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing [AIISH] is an autonomous institute which is fully funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. AIISH UG Admission 2024

AIISH offers Bachelors in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) and Bachelors of Education Special Education (B.Ed. Sp. Ed) at the UG level.

AIISH UG Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have completed their 10+2 with minimum 50% marks in and must have studied at least three subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology for admission in B.ASLP. Admission to B.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI) is open to candidates who have passed any degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other recognized university with at least 50% marks.

Selection in BASLP course would be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in All India Entrance test. Selection in B.Ed. Sp. Ed. is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.

  • The total number of seats in BASLP is 62 and for B.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI) is 20.
  • The upper age limit for admission is 30 for B.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI) as on July 1 of the admission year.
  • Candidates applying through foreign quota are exempted from taking the entrance exam.
  • Seats reserved in BASLP for SC, ST and OBC are 9, 5 and 17 respectively.
  • Seats reserved in B.Ed.Sp.Ed. (HI) for SC, ST and OBC are 3, 1 and 5 respectively.

AIISH offers M.Sc in 2 specializations and an M.Ed. Sp. Ed. the course at the PG level.

AIISH PG Admission - Eligibility and Admission Criteria

For M.Sc, a B.Sc BASLP degree from a recognized university is required with 50% marks. For M.Ed. Sp. Ed (HI), a B.S.Ed. (Hearing Impairment) / B.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI) the degree is required from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks. Admissions are done on the basis of an All India Entrance Test conducted by the institute.

  • The total number of seats in M.Sc is 36 seats in each specialization.
  • The total number of seats in M.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI) is 20.
  • 5% relaxation will be given to reserved categories.
  • Candidates applying for M.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI) should be below 35 years of age as of July 1 to be eligible for admission.
  • Candidates admitted to M.Sc will be given INR 1300 every month as a stipend for 10 months and candidates admitted to M.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI) will receive INR 650 per month as a stipend for 10 months.

AIISH Diploma Admission 2024

AIISH offers three UG Diploma Courses and for PG Diploma Courses. Admission in UG Diploma Course is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam and for PG Diploma courses, admission is based on merit and an interview. Selection is all India based. Candidates who are short-listed based on the merit-cum-reservation will be called for an interview.

AIISH Diploma Courses - Eligibility and Admission Criteria

The minimum eligibility to apply in Diploma courses is 10+2 from a recognized board and to apply in the PG Diploma course, a graduate degree is required to be eligible for admission.

  • The number of seats in all UG Diploma Courses is 25.
  • A preference of 2% will be given to candidates with graduate or postgraduate degrees in UG Diploma Courses.
  • For PG Diploma Courses, the eligible applicants will be short-listed in order of merit which is decided based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination (i.e., total marks obtained / total marks allotted x 100)
  • Candidates with clinical experience in the field of communication disorders will be given preference in the PG Diploma Course for Clinical Linguistics.
  • Students admitted in DECSE (HI) will be given INR 250 as a stipend for 10 months.
  • Candidates can also opt for admission in DHLS through video conferencing mode.

AIISH Ph.D Admission 2024

The doctorate program in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology focuses on increasing the quality as well as quantity of research in Audiology and Hearing Sciences. Many faculties of AIISH are recognized by the University of Mysore as guides for Ph.D.

AIISH Ph.D. Admission - Eligibility and Admission Criteria

The eligibility criteria for pursuing a Ph.D. is a Master’s degree in the same stream from any recognized university with minimum 55% aggregate marks. Candidates should also have either one year of work experience or a year of research experience in the same field after post-graduation. Selection is based on the candidates’ performance in the Entrance test for Ph.D. conducted by the University of Mysore followed by an interview. The institute also offers a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Speech, Language, and/or Hearing every year. The eligibility criteria include a Ph.D. in the same discipline, research experience in the same field which should be proved by a certificate signed by the Head of the Institute. Also, candidates must have published at least two articles/thesis either independently or jointly in an indexed journal. Selection will be based on the suitability and an interview conducted by the university.

  • The Post-Doctoral Fellowship will be awarded to 2 students every year.
  • Candidates will have to undergo a 16-week course work stipulated by the University of Mysore and pass the examination before they can register for Ph.D.

AIISH Application Form 2024

Candidates have to apply online for all entrance test based courses including the Ph.D. programs. To apply online, candidates must follow the below-given steps:

  1. Visit the official admission portal of AIISH Mysore
  2. Duly fill the application form and upload the following documents:
    • 10th Mark Sheet
    • Caste certificate in case of Reserved class.
    • 12th / Qualifying examination Mark Sheet.
    • Passport size photo (in .jpg format)
    • Counterfoil of bank pay-in-slip/UTR
    • Relevant documents if applying under North Eastern/ Diploma/ Physically Handicapped (ortho) category.
    • NOC/Experience Certificate/ Eligibility certificate for students applying for Ph.D.
  3. Submit the application fee online through NEFT/ Debit card/ Credit card/ direct remittance at Bank of Baroda AIISH Extension Counter Mysore only.

For Non-entrance based programs, (Diploma /PG Diploma / B.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI) / Post-Doctoral Fellowship), the hardcopy of the application can be downloaded from the official website. After it is duly filled and signed, it should be sent to Director, AIISH, Manasagangothri, Mysuru-570006. Once the admission is confirmed and AIISH Fees is paid, the seat will be confirmed in the candidate's name.
