Bodoland University, Kokrajhar was established in 2009 under the Bodoland University Act 2009, passed in the Assam legislative assembly. The University is UGC approved and is recognized by AICTE. The university is a public university.

Bodoland University, Kokrajhar courses include BA, MA, M.Sc, MCA, M.Com, BBA and Ph.D. It aspires to indoctrinate students with moral values, sociology, scientific temper, regional and global awareness. It caters education to people of Bodoland and the adjoining states and nations.
