The College of Agriculture pune is one of India's first five agriculture colleges which is established in the year of 1908. Its foundation stemmed from the efforts of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, who advocated for agricultural education and research in India. Initially, it offered a 3 year diploma, followed by a Licentiate in Agriculture, degree in 1899, and later the Bachelor of Agriculture, degree in 1908 recognized by Bombay University. This was renamed Bachelor of Science in Agriculture [B.Sc.(Agri.)] in 1934, with the first batch graduating in 1937.
