Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) is a public university located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The university was named after Bharat Ratna “ Babasaheb “ Ambedkar, who was a political leader, Indian jurist and chief architect of the Indian constitution. It was established on August 23, 1958. The number of enrolled students in the university are  4,44,336.It is accredited A by NAAC and was ranked 69th among the top 100 universities in India (2020) by the National institutional ranking framework. It aims at providing quality education based on skill improvement, with programs challenging the students' thought processes and generating advanced entrepreneurial abilities simultaneously.

BAMU vision & mission

BAMU envisions the transmission of quality education that can be accommodated as per the changing framework. It focuses on research and development as the basis of its education policy. BAMU is devoted to making its study material accessible to anyone,anywhere, and anytime through it's online affiliate courses. The principal mission of BAMU is as follows:

  • It focuses on making education available to students from rural areas, women and differently abled groups by eliminating socioeconomic differences.
  • The foremost focus is on skill development and increasing employability options for the students along with polishing their entrepreneurial skills.
  • BAMU works on the belief that cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence.

BAMU Admission 

The admission criteria in BAMU is based on merit or entrance test for some courses. Initially, the candidates are required to fill up the form online on the official website of DTE, Maharashtra. The application form fee is paid through online mode.

BAMU Eligibility Criteria

Various courses are offered by Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada university, each of which has different eligibility criteria. Below is a list of the few courses offered by the University with their eligibility criteria:

B.Tech eligibility criteria

  • To obtain admission in BAMU for B.tech, the students must appear for MHT-CET examinations. The selection is done based on marks scored in the test and there is no age bar to apply for this examination 
  • The University provides B.tech in pharmaceuticals & fine chemicals technology in 4 years and has a limited number of seats. 

BAMU MBA and MCA Admission 

Courses of postgraduate level, Masters of business administration and Masters of computer applications are of 2 and 3 years respectively. The admission capacity for this course is approximately 60 seats.

MBA & MCA eligibility criteria

  • It is compulsory to have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field to seek admission in the above-mentioned course.
  • The candidate must appear for MAH-MBA-CET exams which are held by DTE, Maharashtra and the selection is some on the basis of it's marks.
  • The backward classes category and persons belonging to disability category will get relaxation of 5% marks.

BAMU PhD & M.Phil admission

These are the two research-based courses offered by the university. The courses are provided in the fields of English, dramatics, Marathi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Chemistry, Statistics, history, ancient Indian culture, political science, public administration and education.

Ph.D and M.Phil Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must hold a post-graduation degree from any recognised university in a relevant field.
  • The University selects the candidates based on their score in the entrance exams, that is conducted by the university
  • For PhD in education, the minimum score of 55% in post-graduation or M.Ed is a must.

BAMU Placement Cell

By emphasizing skill development, the university has been fortunate in placing its students in reputable corporate companies.

The placement cell of BAMU is well organised and dedicated to building the finest career for their students, hence arranging placement interviews from corporate companies all over the globe. Various seminars are arranged for the students to familiarise them with career opportunities. The University conducts workshops to assist students with personality development, communication skills and advanced technology. Top multinational companies recruit students from BAMU as the university has made a name for itself. 

BAMU Scholarships

The foremost mission of the university is to provide quality education to anyone, anywhere and anytime. So, it also provides a plethora of scholarships. Students who can avail of the scholarship are mentioned below:

  • The scholarship called (S.S.T) is given to the son, daughter and ward of a secondary teacher
  • The endowment of scholarship for son, daughter, ward of ex-servicemen and freedom fighter by the university.
  • Scholarship for the students of  reserved categories, known as Government of India scholarship(GOI).
  • There are various other scholarships provided by the university such as Vidyavetan facility, Eklavya scholarship, University merit scholarship, scholarship for non- Hindi language speakers.

Government scholarships are not granted for diploma and certificate courses. Also, there will be no scholarship given to students who are not appearing for the exams.
