Infrastructure:
GLA University recognises the importance of providing world-class facilities in various areas of professional education. The Institute of Pharmaceutical Research stands tall with strong Ideologies and philosophies that are deeply carved out and put into use, keeping in mind the needs of the professional world. The infrastructure of IPR has been designed to cater to the needs of the graduates and help them develop exceptional skills required to face the challenges in the professional world. Institute of Pharmaceutical Research located in the GLA University campus, is designed to be self-reliant with all the basic amenities and resources at its disposal. The institute’s aim is to take GLA to greater heights by enhancing its image across the state and then across India. Various training programmes have been introduced at IPR, focusing on acquainting the graduates with the modern concepts and techniques of all the branches of Pharmaceutical Science.A perfectly conducive learning atmosphere is maintained on the campus, suiting the requirements of contemporary professional surroundings. The faculty members at the institute are a perfect blend of wisdom, experience and expertise and have demonstrated their capabilities in their academic endeavors. Our integrated system of learning balances the traditional and conventional methods of teaching by combining formal lectures and practical classes with audio-visuals and computer assisted learning aids. In-house faculty members as well as trainers from various academic centers and consultancy firms emphasize equally on communication and behavioral aspects of teaching.

Facilities:-

IPR Library:
Started with about 1800 books in its first year, the library today comprises of approximately 7500 books with 816 titles. The Institute has subscribed to 15 international and national journals and 76 online journals through Science Direct. Facilities like easily accessible book bank, internet, and DEL-NET are provided to all the students.

Laboratories:-
The laboratories at IPR are centers of learning to develop individuals and their skill sets. The laboratories at GLA consist of all the latest equipments and software required for practical as well as theoretical learning.

  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab:
These labs are used to impart education about the composition and development of various types of medicines. The students also get acquainted with the process of drug manufacturing. For this purpose, the laboratories have been provided with the required set of equipment to perform small-scale synthesis of drugs.

  • Pharmacognosy Lab:
This lab handles drugs that are obtained from both animals and plants. This modern laboratory has been designed in such a way that apart from routine studies on crude drugs, the isolation of the active chemical constituents can also be made.

  • Pharmaceutics Lab:
These laboratories help students to learn the art of formulating and compounding of medicaments. Here, the students also learn about different dosage forms of medicines– tablets, capsules, ointments, emulsion, injections etc. These laboratories are equipped with instruments like stability oven, thermostatically controlled water bath, vacuum desiccators, tablet disintegrator, friability tester and dissolution rate apparatus to make the learning process effective and efficient.

  • Machine Room:
As the name suggests, this lab comprises of machines that are required for basic formulation training. Machines present here include tablet machine, ointment mill, ampoule sealing machine, ball mill, coating pan, sieving machine, mixer cum grinder and machines to study flow of fluids and frictional losses to name a few. This laboratory is an annexure to pharmaceutics laboratory.

  • Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab:
Quality plays an important role in every sphere of life. Pharmaceutical Analysis Laboratory at IPR has been designed to make students aware of this very fact. The instrument lab has IR, UV Spectrophotometer, HPLC, Phase Contrast Microscope, Brookfield Viscometer, Biochemical analysis etc.

  • APHE Lab:
An understanding of the Human Anatomy, Physiology and Patho-Physiology is required for recognising the reasons behind various illnesses and diseases. To be able to do this, all the necessary apparatus are available in this lab for the students to conduct routine experiments and pathological tests that give them the basic practical knowledge, important for understanding the human anatomy and physiology.

  • Microbiology Lab:
The design of the microbiology laboratory is based on the lines of any modern microbiology lab. The students learn the techniques of handling microbes and study their behaviour. This helps them to correlate theory with practical aspects of learning. This lab is equipped with Autoclave, BOD Incubator, Aseptic Chamber etc.

  • Pharmacology Lab:
Pharmacology is a branch of Pharmaceutical Science that deals with the study of the effect of drugs on body systems. This involves Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics studies. In this laboratory, experiments are carried out to understand the effects of different drugs on the biological system. A few of the equipments in the laboratory include Plethysmograph, Electro-convulsiometer, Analgesiometer, Rotarod, Pole Climbing Apparatus, Actophotometer etc.

Computer Center:
The radical shift from conventional to contemporary methods of teaching, have made computerisation an integral part of learning. Interdependent processes like information search, data analysis, testing and investigation are the essence of pharmaceutical education. Along with round-the-clock internet facility, our computer center has about 40 computers that are fully equipped with modern software, to keep the students abreast with the fast changing needs of the pharmaceutical industries.

Medicinal Garden:
The Institute has developed a medicinal garden, which is an ancillary to Pharmacognosy laboratory. Students have easy access to various medicinal plants (which can easily be grown in the climate of Mathura) to conduct their experiments on. In this era of herbal formulation and therapy, it has become a necessity to provide the students with suitable herbal gardens to make them acquainted with plants and thereby generate their interest in the subject.

Postgraduate and Research Facilities:
The Institute is running postgraduate programmes in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacology. The University is also running PhD programmes in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacology with effect from 2010. From this session 2014-2015 the institute in the process of starting Diploma in Pharmacy of two years. From this session 2014-2015 the institute in the process of starting Diploma in Pharmacy of two years.
