Hooghly Mohsin College started its journey on 1st August, 1836 in Perron’s house, the most magnificient on the banks of the river. 

Library: 

Hooghly Mohsin College Library, the largest academic library of Hooghly district, observes 170th anniversary of its founding, can trace its beginning to an earlier time. It is considered as a leader among all academic library of West Bengal. It serves as an Information centre also. Its valuable collections can be considered as a golden treasury of Bengal’s culture.In addition to this the college has also got a separate Law Library for its law students. 

Law Library: 

Law Library is the pride of this college and attached to an institution engaged for dispensation of social justice through a profession known for legal acumen. It is a repository of living systems of authority as well as reason-systems which change and grow from day to day. And built to cater to the academic needs to the law students, faculty and legal practitioners. 

NSS:

NSS or the National Service Scheme programme was launched by the Union Education Minister Dr.V.K.R.V.Rao on September 24,1969 during the Gandhi Centenary Year. It was started to establish a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community. The idea was originated by Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. He viewed that the country could not move in the desired direction unless the students were motivated to work for the upliftment of the community. Therefore, the cardinal principle of the programme is to get a sense of involvement in the task of nation building through the combined participation of students and teachers in social service. The overall aim of the NSS is to give an extended dimension to the higher education system and orient the students to community service. The programme is now extended to all the states and universities and also at the +2 level in some states. The programme is primarily funded by the Central and the State Government.
