HRH The Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in 1927 by Late Bholanath Baruah. The college imparts quality education to the pupils in order to develop technical professional competency. POWIET imparts value-based engineering education to the students. The courses are designed to strive for continuous improvement in the technical field. The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE].

Placements & Internships : I've done two internships till now. Manufacturing companies come to hire from campus. Average salary is Rs.44000 and highest is approx 1,44000. Alumni network is okay.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : H.S.L.C passed or H.S passed students can apply for this college and they have to appear for an entrance exam named 'PAT' and based on this exam's marks, students will be able to take admission. Entrance exam called 'PAT' is taken in this college. Cutoff marks of PAT exam for general students is 50% to 55% and for SC/ST/OBC, it is 40% to 45%.
Fees & Scholarships : Actually admission fee & examination fee for a particular semester is around Rs.4500 and per year it becomes Rs.9000. NEC scholarship, SC/ST/OBC scholarship, Post matric scholarship under NSP are scholarships that are available. Average of 20-30 students get scholarship. No need of loans.
Academics & Faculty : Class starts from 9AM and ends at 3-4PM. There are a few projects given to be done. Two exams are held based on internal assessment in a semester and finally main exam is held per semester. There should be two assignments to be done properly per subject. Quality and method of teaching is good. Experience is good.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are two hostels, one for boys and another for girls. Hostels are good. Hostel fee is Rs.1500-Rs.2000 per month. PGs are good but their cost is very high. The college does not give food. Quality of classrooms, labs, libraries is best. But there is no wifi connection.
Clubs & Associations : There is the students union, NCC,Assam xahitya Xova. Main festivals are Teachers day, Freshers, Prize distribution day, Annual college week day etc. Life is good here.
